Re: Cumulus MX and Cumulus 1 data
Just checking that you did realise that: "If your "Cumulus.ini" was actually called "cumulus.ini" you should rename it to start with a capital letter." Cumulus MX doesn't recognise it uncapitalized, so it will behave as if it did not exist and create a new file.

Re: Lightning Data
I have no idea why that time though! Things like this get me interested. Short answer: it is FFFF FFFF seconds after midnight on 01 Jan 1970, the Unix base date. Long answer: I looked for all sorts of things, but the answer is that the Unix time fomat is based on number of seconds since midnight on...

Re: Cumulus MX and Cumulus 1 data
Please clarify what you mean by 'and it's there when I browse the data'.
Browse it by what means? Can you see it in the tables viewed in the CumukusMX web interface? Or only if you look in the directory where you copied it?

Re: Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi
Is there a specific reason why the instruction show setting up a cron to reboot every day? I've answered this before. There is no specific need, but periodic reboots are a good idea for any system that is running continuously. The operating system and any programs are unlikely to behave perfectly, ...

Re: Ambient Weather WS-2902A
Well, this station does connect to local network by WiFi and has an IP address, so it does not need a wire. It is another EasyWeather / Fine Offset variant. Have you tried telling Cumulus it's an EasyWeather / Fine Offset and giving it the IP address? That might work If not, it's unlikley support wi...

Re: Ironing out some problems
Accessing using localhost:8998 should only work if you are accessing with a web browser running on the same device as CumulusMX (ie a web browser on your RPi). You can access from other devices on the same network (ie your home network, by WiFi or ethernet wired) using the RPi's IP address eg 192.16...

Re: Customisation CUMX - Dahsboard Improvement Suggestion
But cosmetic changes are down at the bottom of my list ;) Absolutely, Mark! Editing index.html (or any of the other web interface files) is a user activity. We've been given a great starting point. Users should learn some html editing than play with the interface to their heart's content. Or borrow...

Re: USB or Serial?
Seriously considering purchase of a bit of Davis kit but a little confused as to which data logger I should purchase with it. The question Serial vs USB vs WiFi is driven by which connection type you want at the computer end. Modern computers rarely have serial ports (unless you add an adaptor). Su...

Re: USB or Serial?
I use a BelfryBoy logger - at £50 plus £9 postage (worldwide), much cheaper than Davis' own. This is a USB type (ie plugs into the Davis console and connects to your computer via a captive USB cable (which is about 2m long). Works with CumulusMX and most other weather software. See http://belfryboyw...

Re: Volunteers Please - Cumulus MX Documentation
I'd be happy to give some help, but also cannot do it alone.
I'd need someone else to lead the project and advise how to get started.
Completely agree that the best use of Mark's time is the actual program development (and answering the difficzult questions the rest of us cannot ...)

Re: A few CumulusMx questions
Not sure what your question is. These options are all for sending data from CumulusMX to an external webserver. Normally data is sent at the logging interval (eg 10 mins, adjustable) or you can select to have data sent in real time (every few seconds). Elsewhere, you need to set up which files you w...

Re: Ironing out some problems
So i just went through the tutorial, Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi and I'm pretty happy with the results. I'm not sure if I misunderstand the concept so please bear with me. I start Putty and log into the pi, start Cumulus, data is logged, when the pc gets turned off I lose con...
