You should be able to host your website for yourself on a Raspberry Pi, better than a VM as a Raspberry Pi can be left running 24/7 with minimal power consumption.
Google "mysql raspberry pi" for a multitude of instructions on setting up a MySQL server on Raspberry Pi.

Re: Interface access from the internet
CumulusMX does not add any security, so you need to be sure your network itself is secure before doing this. And even then, anyone who has or finds your IP address would be able to adjust the settings as well as see the data. Your risk  But it should work, with no extra configuration. One thi...

Re: realtime.txt update periodically fails
The problem happens after CumulusMX has been running for a few days (I have not noticed a pattern as to when realtime.txt stops working correctly). This will not fix the root cause or explain why you have experienced this problem when others apparently have not (at least, no-one has reported it). B...

Re: Station appear offline
Freddie, I like it, that's not a coincidence! Predictions for the days ahead (will be correct on Saturday of course!) Please don't fix it before Sunday, when the difference goes negative. Re: Station appear offline
If the data wasnt being received then the data wouldnt be transfering from client to server. Not strictly true. As was pointed out above, if Cumulus does not receive data for a short while (under 10 mins, such as a short break in communications), it uses the most recent data it had and ploughs on. ...

Re: Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi
Hans - reboot from crontab works perfectly for me on a system with the latest Raspberry Pi OS as well as previous Raspbian. My understanding is that apart from nice things in the graphical interface (not used by Cumulus), little has changed. (Maybe you could PM me to explain what your line 'systemct...

Re: Station appear offline
What Richard means is that on his copy of the standard Cumulus external webpage, at the top of the 'Gauges' page, the canvas_led is flashing red and the scrolling canvas_status message is reading that his station has been offline for 147 days, though it is clearly working and updating every minute. ...

Re: Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi
Yes, that's the one, all looks correct. Put the next 2 files (SSH and wpa_supplicant.conf) in that folder (the one that you have shown with the BCM.... files, not in Overlays). I'll recheck the instructions when I can, in case I got something wrong. CHECKED: my fault. The new installer no longer cre...

Re: Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi
That's probably ok. That is a new process and I've only done it once, maybe without adequate notes. Can you post a screenshot or photo showing the folder with 37 files or even both of these? If many of the files are named BCM.... that'll be the one you want

Re: Repeated problems with wron data
You would post the zip file right here, in your message (in the section below where you are typing, there is a tab for 'Attachments' which allows you to select a file to upload). Meanwhile, the below shows where the current problem lies: Access to the path "backup/20200520213317x/Cumulus.ini&qu...

Re: webtags
You could process the string afterwards to convert --- to anything you like.
Strictly, --- is a better representation for missing than is the value zero (which could be a real temperature or wind speed).

Re: Location of station
Can't you use a cranked mount off the side of the chimney stack? If you look on Amazon for 'satellite dish mounting pole' you will see various designs such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cranked-SWAN-Clamp-Facia-Bracket/dp/B01M9A7A71/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=satellite+dish+mounting+pole&qid...
