SDS011 air quality sensor

For the last 6 months I have added pm2.5 and pm10 air quality data to my weather site. I use a cheap SDS011 sensor (under 20$ on eBay or Aliexpress, incl. a serial-2-usb adapter), attached to the same Raspberry PI that runs my Fine Offset weather station. A small Python program reads the data every ...

Re: Mix of AM/PM and 24h Time Format

As far as I can tell from the code it has always been like that? The Dashboard explicitly uses a fixed 24 hour format, Today/Yesterday and the Records use whatever is the default date/time format for your locale. The reason why they are different I do not know. Personally I would probably have code...

Mix of AM/PM and 24h Time Format

After moving my CumulusMX installation from a Windows 10 laptop to a Raspberry 4 I noticed that on the admin panel there is the 24h time format used on the "Dashboard", the AM/PM format on "Today/Yesterday" and "Records". My locale is en_CA.UTF-8, so the date command di...

Batteries

After having trouble with alkaline batteries at low temperatures in the transmitter of my FO station, I switched to lithium batteries (specifically: Energizer Ultimate Lithium). Now, before the snow gets too deep, I went out today to check the batteries and was surprised to discover that I installed...

Ahhh Mark, you're right about 'no shortage' (at least most of the time), but I wonder about the 'free' part. I'll have to talk to the local power company about that. :)

Re: Lubricate anemometer?

It's working again. A little sunshine, a little wind ... Still heavily covered in icicles, so I don’t know how reliable it is at the moment. I guess I will check out some method of "heating" like Alan suggested as soon as I can get to it next spring. http://friendsofbridgelake.org/images/w...

Lubricate anemometer?

My anemometer is stuck for nearly a week now. Below zero temperatures and unusually high humidity (together with day-long fog periods) produce this: http://friendsofbridgelake.org/images/weather/frozen.jpg This is an older picture of the anemometer; because of the fog it’s barely visible at the mome...

WU bulk update of Cumulus data

I have been running Cumulus since October 2010, but never bothered to upload the data to Wunderground. A few days ago I finally registered my weather station with WU and now Cumulus updates my account every 10 minutes. Now: wouldn't it be nice to be able to upload all my historical data to WU?! I se...

Doing some translations these days :) Here is the German version: cloudbase_title : "Wolkenuntergrenze", cloudbase_popup_title : "Theoretische Wolkenuntergrenze", cloudbase_popup_text : "Die Berechnung ist einfach; 1000 Fuß für jede 4,4 Grad Fahrenheit<br>" + "Unte...

Re: Raspberry Pi as a webcamera

Luckily there are no fast moving objects in my field of view, so no "ghosts" when combining multiple images. It might be obvious, but I mention it anyway: the default timeout between pictures is 5 seconds! You can reduce this value with the --timeout or -t parameter (in milliseconds). For ...

Re: Non-metric scales in SteelSeries

Hi Bridgeman If you look at the previous posts in this thread you will notice that I made this 'enhancement' request about two years ago. At the time, Mark wasvery busy implementing the SteelSeies gauges as a 'standard' for Cumulus (there is even a special board for it now) and my request probably g...

Right you are, Mark. But my remark was written back in April 2012, and the SteelSeries script has come a long way since :)
