It looks like the end of the cold spell for us

Temperature's been below freezing for 10 days on end at this station. Two days of minimums below -10 C, so I think it's an official cold wave ;-) But the wind is now turning counterclockwise and picking up, and pressure is falling. Fourty years ago, when I was a teenager and we didn't have a medium-...

Re: Unreliable Fine Offset

Nothing of the sort... but YMMV, because mine operates on the 868MHz-band as well. I did have incessant transmission errors when my console was in the vicinity of the computer. I took a 3m USB extension cable and relocated it... and all problems disappeared. Also, we're not really in a builtup area....

Re: UK 2012 Rainfall totals

I got that bit.

The bit I don't understand is how your location relates to "For all the reputation of UK and rain".

You are in Ontario, right?

You obviously don't 'do' marketing. It would be called the "Cumulus Ecosystem".

(or, as some would say, the Cumulus food chain)

Re: UK 2012 Rainfall totals

For all the reputation of UK and rain ("take your umbrella when you go there") the actual rainfall for the year does not seem to be that high. For 2012 we were minus from normal every month except October 689.2 mm actual vs 987 mm normal a 30% shortfall Paul I'm puzzled. Did they relocate...

Re: Fine Offset PCE-FWS 20 wireless

2 In light air, on a frosty night (or day I guess), with high humidity (or fog) the wind direction indicator freezes solid. You then get a flat line in Cumulus for your wind direction unless or until either the temperature goes up enough to thaw it, or the wind gets strong enough to crack it from i...

Re: New Record? Post here.

Ah... finally. A record that doesn't make my records look pathetic ;-)

(in the Krommerijnstreek, we registered a lowest maximum of -3.3°C on Jan. 17, 12:15.)
Still doesn't mean much, as the station has been in use for less than a month now.

Are you planning to use Entity Framework for database access?

Re: Where can I find the Fine Offset with the new rain gauge

Wait - when you say "making the funnel shallower", are you talking about the funnel INPUT side (the higher walls) or the funnel OUTPUT side (the hole in the middle wherein the rain disappears)?

Re: Where can I find the Fine Offset with the new rain gauge

Not really - what you loose on one side, you gain on the other side. As long as the surface area of the opening remains the same, you should be good.

Re: New Record? Post here.

OK, that's better. The worst I've found is a heat index of 52. Which is still bl00dy dangerous.

Re: New Record? Post here.

Well...........We've had +45 Humidex in Toronto, summer 2012 for quite a few days...... I know what that's like. I've seen worse in Ottawa when I was there... 42 in the shade and the wind coming from Lake Ontario. But the 47 in Sidney was not humidex, it was actual 47 degrees Celcius. In the shade....

Re: New Record? Post here.

Arthur, think twice... just a couple days ago, Sydney registered 47 degrees (yes, Celcius), with 95% humidity.

You'd die, I guess. I would.

Re: Suitably impressed

That's an impressive array of cars. We don't get any further than my C5 and my wife's Auris. [edit] and then I realised that, what with us living in the sticks and having our nearest neighbours living 200 yards away and having their own driveway, we're rather spoilt.[retracts foot from mouth] But we...
