Re: New Record? Post here.

the coldest I've been since(oddly enough) Feb. 2011 is -32.6C back in Jan of 2014 My previous coldest temp was also in 2014 @ -30.7 on Jan 11. It has been colder here this winter, but with less snow than the last few years. Hopefully you are far enough south of Lake Erie to have avoided the drubbin...

Re: Looking for a new web host

I agree with David's endorsement re: Vidahost. I have been with them for approximately four months. Set up was simple, and my site has performed flawlessly. Cost is comparable to the two previous hosts I used over the past four years and the performance is far superior. My experience has been "...

Re: Aircraft (planes, google loon etc) spotting.

Thanks for the very informative reply. I'll rummage through my bin of old electronic goodies, as I may already have an ac to dc adapter. Will order other items from ebay and have a go at putting it together.
Cheers

Re: Aircraft (planes, google loon etc) spotting.

Finally received the MCX to BNC adapter and tried my homemade coax/collinear antenna. Looks promising I think, but would like to improve lower altitude coverage. (Screen shot attached showing coverage area). Antenna was temporarily mounted on my garden shed and somewhat shielded by houses. Plan is t...

Re: Harwich Weather Closed Down

Geoff, Stay positive. I was diagnosed with two types of cancer (melanoma and prostate about a year ago). Had surgery/lymph node removal/skin grafts regarding the melanoma: and hormone therapy/radiation re: prostate cancer. Not pleasant to be sure, however despite the bumps along the way I still enjo...

Re: Aircraft (planes, google loon etc) spotting.

Got my repeater cable today, which allowed me to raise the "stubby antenna" approximately 6 meters directly above its' previous location thinking this would/could/should only improve my coverage area. Wrong wrong wrong :( Much better coverage (albeit with some holes) when "stubby was ...

Re: Aircraft (planes, google loon etc) spotting.

Good morning uncle_bob Your current conditions and forecast are looking much better than mine  I ordered a repeater cable yesterday, which hopefully will be here next week. I would like to get it all together before the really nasty weather gets here. Wouldn't like to fall off an icy roof! Good...

Re: Aircraft (planes, google loon etc) spotting.

uncle_bob thanks for the info and the pic. I plan to feed VRS once my setup is finalized. I still have holes in my coverage area due to the stubby antenna and its' poor location. Glad to hear that a 10 meter cable is working for you. That is about the length of cabling I will require from my homemad...

Re: New to Forum

Based on my own experience ( one month) with GoDaddy, I would suggest you consider moving to another hosting service. I signed on with them, but right from the get-go found their service to be less than adequate. Uploads frequently "timed out", web pages were often slow in loading, and/or ...

Re: Aircraft (planes, google loon etc) spotting.

Received the R820T dongle yesterday. Am up and running using "stubby" antenna, which is currently poorly sited....still amazed at the a/c I can track using RTL 1090 and Virtual Radar. Have my coax/collinear antenna installed on sun room roof (much to my wife's chagrin) . Had planned...
