Re: W8681 frustration

Just a thought, but is it certain that the replacement transmitter is on the same frequency as the original?

Re: 1000 Cumulus Websites!!!

Found 4 in NZ that aren't active:

Waikato Microlite Club Hamilton
Ohoka, Canterbury
Templeton, Christchurch (there are two in that area, one still good, other down since 9 Feb)
Gore (Southland)

Re: Wireless indoor/outdoor thermometers

I've had the identical Atech device for years, it's still going. The range is pretty limited, and drops off as the transmitter battery fades, but it should last about 6 months. Check that it's still delivering 3v and reset the transmitter (yellow button) - the LED on the tower symbol should flash ab...

Re: Hinged mouting pole

Knowing the tube diameter and thickness would be useful, but you're right about drilling holes for bolts - a hole at the upper fixing will weaken the tube at the point of greatest bending stresses. It would be preferable to pass the tube through a pivoting sleeve - the simplest way I can think of is...

Re: Temperature Spikes and Spike Removal

Simple telephone extension cables are susceptible to spikes. I found using a Cat5E (twisted pair) cable reduced the frequency and severity of temp spikes, although not completely. I used Cat5 (6 way) sockets to connect the cables, which accept the original RJ45 phone connectors without a problem. Mo...

Re: Internal Humity Query

You shouldn't take the FO humidity readings seriously - I doubt they calibrate them at all. Mine is always about 10% lower than a reliable instrument alongside it. I just wish we could calibrate it......in Cumulus.

Re: Callibrating Humidty

Correcting humidity simply by adding a multiplier or offset results in distortions at the top end of the scale i.e approaching 99% (where I want it to be about right, assuming the instrument isn't too far off there) I've been playing with a correction factor that is manually applied via spreadsheet ...

Re: <#currcond>

Thanks for the help guys I made a batch file called metar.bat which contains the following: @D:\cumulus\metarweather\mweather.exe /stab "D:\Cumulus\currentconditions.txt" -downloadhide is that the correct usage for "@"? It works i.e. it gets the metar data and uploads just as bef...

Re: <#currcond>

The screen just reverts to whatever is showing before the windows screensaver kicks in - as if I moved the mouse or hit a key.
I'm not running a batch file, XP runs the exe file and its parameters directly.

cheers.

Re: <#currcond>

Since implementing mweather, my screensaver gets deactivated at the same time Cumulus starts a web upload. After the set period has elapsed, the screensaver is reactivated and the cycle starts again. I'm thinking it's not caused by mweather itself, but just by having an external program set to run i...

Re: <#currcond>

Thanks Neil - instructions were fine, once I corrected a typo I made in the Cumulus entries  I already had my webpage displaying current conditions, but rarely got to typing an entry in the Cumulus panel. Problem now solved! Yeah, the country is pretty confident for the rugby final (touch wood...

Re: <#currcond>

Good stuff Neil, just what I wanted, but had no idea how. I also found it useful to have a 2nd copy of Mweather running in another directory (with its own config) for viewing other attributes and sites too. Cheers!

Re: Rain 24 hours/Today (b.1013/14)

I get that tiny dip in the rain graph showing at the time Cumulus is powered up in the morning (provided it has rained :))
It's so small to be negligible. Possibly a consequence of the correction factor I've applied?

Re: TX sensor screen on 1081

I've taken mine apart, as far as possible. There are two long plastic rods, with a larger diameter head at the bottom to retain the saucers. The upper ends are glued into the top cap, and therefore they cannot be removed. I carefully shaved down the sides of the heads (using the mini chisel on my Sw...
