Re: Can Cumulus software be used to calibrate hygrometer of WS-1080?

Hi, I've gone ahead and ordered a new temp/humidity sensor for my WS-1080. From where have you ordered that? It's a regular question on this forum and nobody (else) seems to have known the manufacturer or type number of any of the several types of T/H sensor fitted to the various FO stations. Cheers...

Re: Fine Offset 1080 suddenly more frequent lockups

Hi, Strange the UV info still comes thru. The UV (and Solar Lux) data is encoded in the "Solar Pod" and sent as a separate data packet directly to the "transmitter" section of the "External Unit" (via the 6-way cable into the "rain" socket). So obviously the r...

Re: Fine Offset 1080 suddenly more frequent lockups

Hi, A couple of real "long shots", but I've also been having (different) problems with one of my trusty 1080s. Could there be a "2020 bug" in the software, or might the EEPROM simply have "worn out" (my issue started with some garbage data in the logging) ? I did notice...

Hi,

Your profile (still) shows your Operating System as Windows XP. AFAIK Cumulus MX (still) can't run under XP?

Cheers, Alan.

Re: No reception when it rains - OK when it's sunny

Hi, Energizer Lithiums deliver almost 2 volts (each) at light load, so the voltage shouldn't be an issue (unless it's too high! ). Do you have any "obstructions" between the transmitter and receiver(s)? Damp brick for example may reduce the signal quite considerably, particularly if 868 MH...

Re: Does anyone use wind measurement correction?

Hi, Wind speed similarly lower on Davis [17.1 km/h] than on Fine Offset [21.2 km/h] - ratio is 1.24 So, having considered all this, should I add a correction factor of +20% to the Davis wind speeds? Thanks for those interesting observations which appear to confirm that the OP shoould NOT introduce a...

Re: Does anyone use wind measurement correction?

Hi, The "official" measurement of wind speed should be 10 metres above an "open field" with no obstructions, which is practically impossible for most amateur stations (and should be taken into account by most users of the data). If you are "posting" data which you hope ...

Re: Change Log Interval

Hi,

It's a Windows Application called SetLogger.exe , which can be found as a .zip file in the Downloads or Wiki sections of this forum, or directly here.

Cheers, Alan.

Re: Photos of the insides of Fine Offset sensors.

Hi, Thanks for the detailed information and welcome to the forum. My apologies for the delay in replying, but I had hoped that somebody might "know" the answer, I can only "guess". Unfortunately, I have never had a Hall Vane sensor to test. I had assumed that the Hall Wind Vane w...

Re: Transmitter repair.

Hi, Sorry, rather late with this reply. I would make an assumption that I probably could run 2 (or more) identical transmitters (that is to say the same frequency, protocols etc) to be picked up by a single transmitter. No, whilst FO indeed use only a "one way" transmission system ("s...

Re: WH2080 (WS-0101) receiver does not send data to computer

Hi, Probably Not. It depends on the exact "Brand" or "Badge" of the Weather Station, but in my experience (Clas Ohlson 1080, 868 MHz) the Wireless Protocol was changed from the Original (FSK) to the "new" (OOK) coding system around 2014. So a (868 MHz) model bought in 2...

Re: Wind bearing zero when calm

Hi, Would agree that it must be the station reporting the zero bearing. No I don't think so. The FO transmitter sends only 4 bits corresponding to the 16 "possible" wind directions (N , NNE, NE, etc..). It definitely cannot distinguish between 0 and 360 degrees. There is another flag for &...

Re: Photos of the insides of Fine Offset sensors.

Hi Chris, Only the anemometer/vane (and Solar Sensors when applicable) need to be "on the roof", the "recommended" height for T/H and Rain sensors is only a few feet above the ground. The FO sensors are all cabled, which can be easily extended if required (provided that the RJ11/...

Re: Photos of the insides of Fine Offset sensors.

Hi, Welcome to the forum. To answer a few of your questions: The "Solar Pod" (for solar data) contains quite a lot of electronics including a "voltage regulator" which feeds current to the batteries in the main transmitter unit. It takes the form of an ultra low quiescent current...
