Re: Temperature data spikes revisited
maybe some chicken wire(?) around the outdoor sensor unit connected to ground? a sort of faraday cage?

Re: Sunshine Recorder
amazing,
you already have done more that most people would be satisfied with.
just to think it started with a christmas ball

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited
have you tried some ferites on both ends of the cable?
that should stop interference picked up by it.
also wind and humidity can create static electricity,
if that affects the cable or the temp.sensor directly, who knows..
grounding would be needed then.
just food for thought.might be all wrong

Re: The inside of the ws-1081
in a dutch tech-forum they looked into the wh1080(alecto 3000) same station only without the winddirection and usb. there you can see some scope pics. http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1290411///weerstation as mentioned there, a logic analyzer would be more usefull. the pics show the...

maybe this one,at least it has a datasheet on the site
http://www.barnardmicrosystems.com/L4E_FMU_sensors.htm
looks very much like it.

Re: The inside of the ws-1081
thanks steve for the sticky, should be usefull/easier for others. together with the sticky-topic from Gina about the sensors,we could find out everything about the station. unfortunately i had a major crash of my HD and motherboard failure so i lost a lot of stuff about the vane and its connections a...

Re: DCF77
it was a pc fan unfortunatly.
but the new one wil be on less voltage, see how long it lasts.
the old one had already about 10 years work in the old pc (pentium 166 mhz).
haven't looked yet but i don't think that was brushless,so i will take your advice and get a brushless.

Re: DCF77
possible, don't think it would affect the temp readings much. but i think its easier to replace the fan (few euros) and at the same time replace the batteries and clean it after the winter once a year. it now worked for 15 months without interruption. reducing the voltage to 9 or 6 volts could prolon...

DCF77
Just for info: ever since we went to summertime a few weeks ago,my station stayed at wintertime. That wasn,t a big deal.(can't set it manually since i removed the touch screen glass) however yesterday i heard that the pc-fan i build in the stevenson-screen was making a lot of noise, probably worn dow...

Re: X7062 style generics
pictures are free to use so the wiki is a good idea.
if someone can do that ,don't know much about that.
do i still need to upload them(how?) or can it be done by "save picture as" by someone.

Re: X7062 style generics
well, that should make big money then
unfortunately it is just the free space i get from my provider.(xmsnet)
apparantly someone at opendns finds a name with an "X" in it pornographic.
hope the pictures of the fine offset are still to see for others?

as a follow up,How sensitive could this be ?
eg. Could it possible to have a 'nighttime' mode to detect cloud cover ?
sunlight intensity (chance of sunburn).
and keep the accuracy

Re: Yet another Windvane Mod
very interresting, seems most promissing (maybe THE solution) Does the width of the plate have a minimum size,or does that depend of the magnets created magnetic field/eddy currents? Can the plate be too big and thus counteract/disturb the magnetic field or eddy currents? i agree that a vertical sol...

Re: Lost Sensor Contact!!
you can try improving the reception of the station. inside the basestation there is a wire alongside the pcb. been a long time but i thought it was roughly 16cm long, which is a quarter wave length of 433mhz. you can replace(!) the wire for a 34cm long one ,which is a 1/2 wave, that could give you abe...

Re: Wind vane on WS1081
grease won't help, already done that,no succes. actually, just finished doing the extention. only i just gone a little further. i have raised the vane with a spare pipe i had from the ws3000(same as wh 1081,but no winddirection and no usb) this pipe is half the length of the pipe from the wh1081(which...
