Re: Rain calibration

Hi, My rain amount is reading to high...... using the rain multiplier would this be a negative value ? No, if it is reading too high by 10% then you need to use a "fractional" multiplier, i.e. 0.9 , not negative (unless the rain is falling upwards). Or to be pedantic, it's 100 / 110 which ...

Hi,

Possibly an Ecowitt but I can't recommend how best to purchase one in Australia. The Weatherduino DIY project also seems quite popular over there, if you're that way inclined.

Cheers, Alan.

Re: Instromet sunshine recorder

Hi, I have been using Cumulus for a number of years to log data from Instromet sensors, including their sunshine sensor. I now have a desktop computer running Windows 10 and have downloaded Cumulus 1.9.4 . Which Version / Build number were you using and which have you now downloaded / installed? Cum...

Re: Replacement batteries?

Hi, It might depend if it's just a "charging" Solar Pod (WH-208x ? ) with I believe no "electronics" or a "Solar Data" Pod (WH-308x) which has a voltage regulator. IIRC the "charging" voltage from the WH-308x Solar Pod is around 3.0 volts (a 3.3 volt low quies...

Re: Photos of the insides of Fine Offset sensors.

Hi, Yes, Maplin was rather a loss for the area of "spares" availability; the Anemometers that they sold at £2.50 (and I bought a few when they were closing down for £1.50) now seem to cost around £20 if imported from China! And we always knew that they used 434 MHz with no "complicati...

Re: Photos of the insides of Fine Offset sensors.

Hi, ... still having issues accessing the code, which hopefully they will sort out. Not sure I would opt for a built unit, it's more expensive than a replacement Wattson base station.. IMHO the WeatherDuino is not really "comparable" with a Fine Offset (Maplin, Watson, etc..) system, but o...

Re: Additional temperature sensor

Hi, It might depend which of the many models that Fine Offset manufacture(d), that you're considering. But if you mean the "classic" WH1080, etc. then very probably not. With it's generic USB interface, you can't even run two separate Consoles (with different external sensors and maybe rad...

Re: Lightning sensor

Hi, It is a feature of some of the ECOWITT weather stations (previously known as Fine Offset), for example I noticed it in the following advert (but they are not as easy to buy in Europe). Also beware that the specific reference to "lightning" might be a "mis-print" because that ...

Re: Using Data from Solar Panels

Hi, Note that Davis actually fit a spirit level (bubble) to their Solar Sensors, so that they can be set exactly horizontal. Also, one of the reasons that Caneira (Werk) used a small PV panel (only some tens of square cms) in preference to a traditional photo diode or transistor, in his Weatherduino...

Re: n96gy temperature sensor

Hi, Yes, it's probably a thermistor in the External transmitter. I did actually characterise one some years ago, but the data is on a different computer that may take some time to find. I think it might have been 20k ohms at 25 degrees C, which is not particularly common. If you can find a thermisto...

Re: A mysterious lapse into constant zero readings on temperature

Hi, Do you mean zero degrees (0 deg.C) or "no reading" ("---") ? The "old" versions of the WH-1080 use a thermistor in their external transmitter, read by an ADC "shared" with the Wind VANE. If there is any "leakage" (water or maybe worse) between th...

Re: Ecowitt GW-1000 suggestion - added b3067

Hi, IMHO some data is basically "garbage" and should carry a "health warning" (in this case almost literally) before being posted to the internet (or anywhere). It's unfortunate because the Davis solar sensors (and documentation) are highly professional, albeit at a rather high p...

Re: Watson W-8691

Hi, The rain and wind is transmitting fine. It's the temp and pressure that are not. Presumably you mean Humidity, the pressure sensor is in the Console. The causes of your problems may depend on the age of the station - not all Fine Offset stations are the same! You might find more information in t...

Re: Cumulus High Wind won't read over 50kmh

Hi, Welcome to the forum. What does the Console (LCD display) indicate for the maximum wind speed? Similarly, what about the normal (supplied) "Easyweather (plus)" software? You can download logged data to both applications, but they cannot be run at the same time. Is the maximum exactly 5...

Re: Help Please Trying to set up maplin N25fr for Primary School

Hi, It looks as if the N25FR was the real "bottom of the range" station (even for Maplin) without a Wind Vane or computer interface, so you won't find much interest here on the Cumulus forum. It might be relevant whether yours is a "Primary" school (as in the OP title) or is more...
