Re: decent stand alone UV sensor?

I've used the Hobby Boards UVI sensor and it seems O.K. - at least my readings more or less agree with the local weather office. I think you'll find he is no longer selling the 1-wire version; only the stand alone unit. His solar radiation sensor is junk, however. There's a wide variation from devic...

Re: UPS use, Close on suspend, and hibernation

I also have two UPS from two different companies, and neither has the option to do anything but shutdown. Are you absolutely sure the unit you are looking at does a hibernate? Attempting a hibernate or suspend on one of my machines tends to get the RAID array out of sync, so it's probably just as we...

Re: WH1080

It's always cost, in one form or another. While the male A to male A is not allowed by the original specification, many manufacturers are pushing for it or have just gone ahead and ignored the spec. There are obvious advantages to a symmetrical cable, including the ability to splice multiple section...

Re: Wind readings quite high after battery change?

Sorry - I didn't mean to choose such harsh words. But rest assured, none of the major weather stations require you to hold sensors in a specific position when you insert the batteries. It sounds like you have a really unusual beast. Can you point to a link for your station? I can't seem to find anyt...

Re: Wind readings quite high after battery change?

...as looking at my graphs the wind changed direction roughly when I changed the batteries. Hummm... can this be a clue?!!! Some sensors need to be "re-calibrated" when changing batteries. In my case I need to stop wind speed meter, and manually point wind direction detector to North, bef...

Is the temperature still incorrect with the wind sensors unplugged?

Re: Calibration settings thru internet

I have not actually tried this, but since that information is located in cumulus.ini , you could inspect that file. If you include it in the FTP list, you could even pull it off your website. The file is only accessed when Cumulus boots or you make changes, so I don't *think* sending it would cause ...

Time then to change, or at least lubricate, the bearings.

Re: Viewing Cumulus on an alternative system

If I want to check Cumulus when I'm away from my main computer, I use my Android phone which is usually in my pocket and WIFI connected when I'm at home. I'm not sure if there are apps available for the other smartphone platforms, or you may not be a smartphone user, but this is another alternative....

Re: Anemometer errors

I have 2 anemometers and both started putting out only 1 pulse after 6 months to a year. My theory is that a poorly positioned reed switch suffers mechanical fatigue or starts to become magnetized causing this. In any case, the sensor is in a difficult spot to get to, especially this time of year, s...

Re: Decoding the Fine Offset station RF transmissions ?

I'd be interested in seeing the SPI settings... also interested in a breakdown of the data packet contents and what they mean if you are willing to share.

Re: Problems with station communication: USB locks up comple

For those of us with older stations (or 1-wire stations) that don't have the lock up problem, is it possible to disable the function of attempting to sync clocks by adding something to the ini file? I'm sorry if this has already been answered, but a search didn't find it...

Re: Problems with station communication: USB locks up comple

I upgraded to the new beta while migrating to a new computer, and got the "bad start up block" message while restarting Cumulus on two separate occasions. I had never seen this before, except while developing my 1-wire station. I rolled back to 1.9.2 and have not seen it since, although it...
