Re: Temperature data spikes revisited
low humidity cold air blowing over a cable builds the static charge when the discharge is lower than the build up. more surface(eg,longer cable) gives a more rapid build up. the only way for the cable to discharge is through the air(normally), but that is then the very reason it can't,for it is to d...

just an occasional small one.
what if it is the base unit all that time, sometimes it't right in front of you and you don't see it........

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited
wind(or a small breeze) can build up static on an antenna, dependent on atmosferic conditions, like humidity, static charge of the air, nearby elements(trees, poles) so wether the spikes ar build ups or discharges,i don't know. yet another possibility a piece of tin between the tempsensor and the cable c...

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited
hope that works, but if not  (sorry, couldn't resist) here is some food for thought: ''''RTD and thermistor output signals are typically in the millivolt range, making them susceptible to noise. Lowpass filters are commonly used in RTD and thermistor data acquisition systems to effectively e...

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited
makes me think more and more it might be the tempsensor itself.
you have practically done everything to eliminate the other sensors.
maybe a small condensator(a few pF,non polarised) directly over the tempsensor.to smooth it a litle.

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited
have you tried winding your cables into a choke balun?
usually done with coax, but worth to try.

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited
since you have your outdoor unit in the house now,why not check the pcb.
make sure there is no dirt ,corrosion etc.
bad/loose soldering(resolder when in doubt),go with a small knife or something to clear any possible shortcut between the tracks and
or is it just jinxed??

I can see the image in your images file (using opera),it does not show on your page. i copied your sourcecode in dreamweaver, if you change the line <img src="images\ballinanswweatherlogo.png" /> into <img src="http://www.ballina-nsw-weather-from-stormboy.com/images/ballinanswweatherl...

Re: crash with 1.9.1 957 after 13 hours ...
again this morning.(running 24/7) if it helps, restart is very smooth,no dataloss or strange behaviour whatsoever. i use Nod32 antivirus, cumulus directory is in the exceptions so it won,t be scanned all the time. i use "minimem" to optimize memory for assigned programmes.(mainly Opera and r...

Re: Rainfall Heater ...
you could build in a car lightbulb, gets pretty warm.
but you do need to power it.(12 volt)
also a ceramic resistor can be used for it,also needs power, dependent on the wattage of it.

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited
i have looked at the 24 hour graps on your site. at the same time you see hum.-fluctuates, wind -gustpeak, pressure- at a peak ,tilting from rising to falling. looks like all is affected, which should rule out a faulty sensor, so that could mean it is a nag in the data transmission. improving sending...

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited
silly me ,
overlooked that
what about the quality of the tempsensor,it could be coming with the type.
