Re: Temperature data spikes revisited

maybe a hare or cat or whatever you have running in the wild,
in that case you could see by your temp readings if a rabbit is "well done"
for christmas diner

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited

sorry to see it's still there. first thing in my mind was "that's interference". maybe a long shot, but still a possibility: http://www.telepermit.co.nz/fence.html more results: http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=nl&q=interference+electric+fence&sourceid=opera&ie=...

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited

looks like when the wind speed starts rising and at a certain speed during the rise (and occasional the fall) they appear

some soort of build up resonation

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited

just a resistor between the battery and the pcb. also been brewing of separating the anemometer reed from the circuit . here is the idea;a galvanised separator would it be possible to have an optocoupler between the reed and the pcb. the reed would need its own power(maybe a AAA-penlight) http://hom...

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited

understanding you are tired of it,it is still naging me a bit. so i am still searching and found a pdf off a reedsensor with some possibilities for protection against current spikes http://www.elhinel.com.ar/camozzi-pdf/CSBCSC.pdf you have done all except one, that is using a varistor. (then one woul...

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited

nice job, looks like your patience and determination has paid off. good move to solder the cable directly, that eliminates friction and signalloss (and false signals). all in all a nice "project". 1-wire sounds interresting too, offers lot's of possibilities to extend with sensors etc .light...

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited

where did you put the choke, directly between the anemometer and the cable or between the cable and the unit.
that can make a difference.
usually it's better to put it the beginning(anemometer/cable)

Re: The inside of the ws-1081

i see,makes sense.
fortunately you know more about microprocc.than i do,
analog is more my thing.
still was worth a shot.
back to the spike problem..

Re: The inside of the ws-1081

To change the timing of the transmission you'd need to reprogram the transmitter microprocessor. I'd bet the microprocessor is not re-programmable. regarding the spikes in the other thread,i experimented with my outdoor pcb and put a strip of aluminum between the cable connectors and the thermistor...

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited

the thermistor does need some current all the time. you can call it a base current if you like. with its resitance changing and so the current dependent on temperature,it is compared with the base current. the chips converts that current value to a temp value now a reed or reeds opening and closing,...

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited

could be, as far as i know a reed needs some sort of buffering to counteract the contactbouncing. it seems to me that the trace where the capacitor, resitor, vane and thermistor are joint is the common "feed" from the chip, then via the sensor back to the chip. btw ,also found this,he works w...

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited

i meant the capasitor on the pcb,th yellow smd part (4,7 uF,couldn't read it on mine)
Image
and you're right,my old one is also known as wh1070
outdoor pcb is identical as the wh1080 one

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited

mine both have the dcf clock function, the cheaper one has no usb and winddirection, maybe i have my type numbers mixed up,sorry.

maybe the condensator is there to compensate for the spikes(bouncing of the reed contacts)
might be worth to try to replace it

Re: Temperature data spikes revisited

the condensator is 22uF polarised.(wh1080,no windvane on mine(wh1081,with vane) it's smd(yellow) some have a regular bigger bleu one both have the same pcb as outdoor unit, only the vane less has a few components missing wether the chip is the same? probably maybe you should replace the condensator,w...
