Re: Problem with the records menu

monthlyalltimelog.txt No this is not the file, it is monthlyalltime.ini and further all inifiles in the contain record data (e.g. year.ini, yesterday.ini etc...). Not advised to edit the files directly, use the editor in CMX. The Records Began Date as advised by Paul has a good chance of being the ...

Re: Important - Highcharts Licensing

@Broadstairs: I understand all angles in any security issue and everybody must do what he/she thinks best. But don't come with 40 years of experience: it's the same for me with a somewhat lighter view of things. My bad I guess. Years ago when installing a central heating system in my house, I asked ...

I'm back.

@Nossie: that may be right, I had many issues recently. Let's hope it is OK now.

Re: Important - Highcharts Licensing

@SaratogaWX: I think we differ in how far and with what angle we need to approach this type of problems. There are many security issues and nobody can close all holes. The naked fact that an amateur has a site is enough to conclude there is a risk. I don't believe CDN poses special or enlarged risks...

Re: Problem with the records menu

Did you transfer correctly all ini files from the old datafolder to the new one?
It sounds a bit as if there is the problem.

Re: Important - Highcharts Licensing

Hans as Ken explained earlier if you have to load code from a website outside of your own server you expose a potential security issue where that site could be compromised without your knowledge and load code exposing the end user to viruses etc, this is not just a theory it has happened in the pas...

Re: Important - Highcharts Licensing

Should we all be applying for the free licence??? Haha... if we do they may start realising the amount of work for them and us and for the negative PR. Or they start charging... @sutne: No it is not stealing if you just use it. You can't steel what's for free and we are still talking about a free l...

Re: Important - Highcharts Licensing

I agree.. we have to eliminate Highcharts from our usage and replace with an open source graphic package (JavaScript) I fully agree. now. I'd like to use a package that doesn't require a CDN/external URL source to run correctly and is under MIT or Apache license (free). I do not see why a non-CDN w...

Re: Important - Highcharts Licensing

@saratogaWX: Note that Highcharts has the possibility to break up code in different segments to define the chart. This is the basis for my ChartsCompiler . If the choice makes that impossible I may have to deviate to another package or (worst case) give up :!: My first impression went to Apexcharts ...

Re: Important - Highcharts Licensing

I'm starting my experiments with other open-source JavaScript packages by first adapting Mark's existing Highcharts to the Saratoga template Then I'll modify the scripts for each tested package. Here's what my adaptation of the existing Highcharts looks like: 2024-04-09_CUMX-Highcharts.jpg 2024-04-...

Re: CustomLogs as module

Hans, as always, you are reliable in helping  . Way to go. Script works. OK. I'll make a description of how to continue with cumulusutils.js which would make it possible for you to use the CUtils website infrastructure (not compulsory) of loading reports/charts from menu choices. Much like Ba...

ConligWX wrote: Tue 09 Apr 2024 7:40 am I think for the future however, it would be best to move away from highcharts if they are being that anal about a license that they cant really impose to the masses. what a waste of time for everyone.
I am beginning to think that too. Very unfortunate.

Re: Solar eclipse April 8, 2024

A nice addition to this eclipse thread is the following: https://twitter.com/gunsnrosesgirl3/status/1777353589360329200 During a solar eclipse, the gaps between leaves on trees act as multiple pinhole cameras, and each gap projects its own crescent-shaped image of the eclipsed sun onto the ground.
