Re: Time to stick my feet back in the weatherstation world again
Ideally I don't want to spend more than a couple of hundred quid. It needs to be wireless and it needs to interface with a Pi4 which I already have. I don't actually need a console. This fits the bill perfectly: http://www.ecowitt.com/weather_station/107.html one sensor module (with the sensors you...

Re: MX installation on Linux
As others have noted, GW1000 is an Ecowitt device number. It's identical to the Froggit DP1500 (except that DP1500 only comes in one frequency, GW1000 in 3 different frequencies and you need to make sure your whole system uses the same one)

Re: Time to stick my feet back in the weatherstation world again
Unless you have a real need for the esoteric features which are possible with Davis Vantage Vue or VP2, I'd strongly suggest you spend MUCH less and buy an Ecowitt-based system. You can buy the whole system, well built and will last for years, for about the same cost as just the Davis gizmo that you...

Re: Archive data question
I'd hate to think that's true - lots of help is being given here.
I've put the link above into the 'Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi' tutorial at viewtopic.php?f=40&t=17895

Re: What does "Update forecast hourly" setting do?
Because the real expectation as to upcoming changes in the weather (ie, the forecast) does not change minute-by-minute. So Cumulus offers to update it less often for greater stability / less bouncing around.

Re: Cumulus and WiFi
See this other thread for a report that Froggit WH3000SE (with DP1500 but no console display) is working well with CumulusMX and is seeming reliable and data consistent with the much more expensive Davis Vantage Vue.

Re: Ecowitt Stations
Late reply, but don't forget that you can always use a USB power bankbetween the power supply and Raspberry Pi to act as a kind of UPS. How long it will last depends on the capacity of the power bank. Whether it's worth it depends how often you get mains power failures. This would also help protect ...

Re: Where is the download for raspberry pi?
The topic on how to install MX on a raspberry pi gives a link for it but it seems to be dead? Are you referring to the instructions that I wrote and maintain? https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=17895 I just double-checked and it correctly refers to https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Soft...

Re: Default CumulusMX Stylesheet - weatherstyle.css
First of all, I know nothing about .css, but trying to learn a little so that I can customise my web pages. Suggest that, rather than learning by dissecting this single example, google "CSS instructions". There are millions of online resources. This one not only includes tutorial, but als...

Re: Cumulus and WiFi
That model is quite an old one. It can connect to a PC, and Froggit supply it with software called WeatherSmart (on their download tab). As far as I know, Cumulus is not compatible with that. You could buy https://www.froggit.de/product_info.php?info=p420_dp1500-wi-fi-weather-server-usb-dongle-incl-...

Re: SUN: Siting a Webcam
I'm glad others have moved away from spending hundreds of pounds/dollars on a fancy camera. It's really not needed. I use cheap indoor IP cameras with Pan/Tilt ability and HD resolution, mounted outdoors (but under cover of the eaves and inside a plastic bag !!). The image quality really doesn't suf...

Re: Station connection
Cumulus MX can connect to some wireless stations, by entering the station's IP address in Cumulus settings. Someone else can answer for sure, but I don't think the WS2902 is on the list, as connection is only possible if the station's manaufacturer has has built in an interface that allows interroga...

Re: error message on installation
I just have to remember to close MX on my rPi before I reboot it. I believe (actually, hope!) I am right to think that it is safe to simpy use 'sudo halt' or 'sudo reboot' on a Raspberry Pi without specifically closing Cumulus MX. Both 'sudo reboot' and 'sudo halt' perform a controlled, organised c...

Re: Cumulus and WiFi
The Froggit version of the WiFi gateway device that Ecowitt call GW-1000 is DP1500 at EUR 49.99 https://www.froggit.de/product_info.php?language=de&info=p410_dp1500-wi-fi-weather-server-usb-dongle.html It is effectively a display console without an actual display, so you can buy the outdoor sens...
