Re: Low Battery Life
Hi Howard From all the posts re solar sensor and battery failure the impression is get is that the first version of the solar sensor is prone to intermittent failure, and whilst trying to get restarted really sucks the life out of the batteries. There are a number of ideas as to what’s causing it, a...

Re: RAINCOUNTER RESET
Hi Steve
I have attached an image showing the 1st of Jan from the Jan 2012 log file as well as the diags zip. I may have misunderstood, but I believe the column highlighted should be showing 0 not 72.3, the figure of 72.3 is last year’s rain total.
Regards
Colin

Re: WH3080/3081
Hi Claus I have been fine tuning my 3080 solar readings since mid-November 2011, I’m now about as near as I can get for accuracy within the limits of 3080. The following might help you. Transmission left at default 0.80. Tried altering that but a 5% change doesn’t give a 5% result, presumably becaus...

Re: Solar and UV sensors going off line - fix?
I've been having an intermittent problem with my 3081 since I set up in mid-November 2011. It will lose data for around 30 minutes give or take then continue. Sometimes it will need another brief spell a little later, no specific times. After that it's ok for a couple days or so. I have attached a l...

Re: RAINCOUNTER RESET
Hello iceberg When I first set up Cumulus in November 2011, January was hightlighted so I assumed that would be used; I'm using build 1020. However the Jan 2012 log file for my 3081 hasn’t reset either. I have chosen January again on the two occasions I've opened Cumulus in the past week, still no l...

Re: Query for W-8681-Solar/WH3080
Hi Alan From what I've read I’m dubious about rechargeable alkaline batteries, particularly their apparent proneness to leakage. I would have preferred to use standard lithium batteries. The money invested in the solar charging could have been better invested in getting the Solar and UV side right. ...

Re: Query for W-8681-Solar/WH3080
Hi Alan Just to clarify, are you saying you use low leakage NiMH type e.g Eneloop or Infinium in your WH3080, as opposed to rechargeable Alkaline as supplied by FO? As an aside, the DCF signal on my WH3080 can come and go at any time during the day. From another manufacturer’s product manual apparen...

Data logging interval and wind speed configuration
I read and re-read all I can find, but this is one subject I cannot get my mind around. At present I have 15 minute logging and have ticked “Use 10 min average wind speed” and “Use 'speed' for avg calculation”. If I change to 10 minute logging with the present settings, how will this affect wind spe...

WH3080 up and running – comments & observations
A few weeks back I decided to get a PWS, and soon discovered most weather software was overly complicated and looked like it was designed on and for Windows 95, and for me hardware without decent software is a non-starter. Then I came across Cumulus which is not only designed to make use of Windows7...
