Re: WH3081 Anemometer packed up

It is an easy fix, I agree. I got given a "broken" one that did the same. I just oiled the bearings. How much do the bearings cost and compared to a new unit? I got a replacement anemometer for Au$22 (while the whole system will cost up to $179). And where would you find a bearing like tha...

Re: WU_settings

If you have a website you should supply a link. Hope you got it working, but I do notice you will need to be able to run PHP. Correct? You can google how to check if your server allows PHP (some don't). You will need to install PHP if you are running your computer as your website server (like me). T...

Re: Fine offset reading rainfall

Hope you have it fixed up. I would have guessed bad connections for the false readings (not just the RG, but also wind vane etc.), and perhaps bad connection on the rain gauge or RG not working properly. Have you extended cables? Checked water flow through RG? Does the RG move in wind?

Re: Looking forward to....

I'm not good at programming, have done some of my own work, but it takes me ages. Take this advice with a grain of salt, but I noticed you didn't have an answer yet. :) I don't know anything about scripts, but I would have just used Javascript (same as what you meant?) to see the value of the wind c...

Re: ALL SKY CAMERA STREAMING

FULL HD webcam with a fish eye lens that you can buy for a camera phone perhaps? The lens may not work on it properly, so perhaps get a second hand mobile phone that accepts the fish-eye lens and connect it via WiFi (you can get apps for your phone to do this). You will just need to make the phone w...

Re: adding cyclone alert to my site uising bom code

Me neither. But what I do do (hahaha, I said doo doo), now back to maturity, I get the RSS warning feeds from BOM and put the RSS feeder onto my website to show all the BOM warnings that are current for the NT. I also add in all the Fire warnings as well. I have a separate feed for national weather ...

Re: Poor old WH1080

My plastic cups on the anemometer went brittle and disintegrated in the wind at 3 years old. I'm 12 degrees below the equator and see UV up to 16. The arm that holds them was also bad. I ended up buying aluminium square tubing for Au$10 and replacement anemometer for $22. Anything in the Sun here di...

Re: WH1081pc has stopped transmitting wind data

If you have any extensions as I do, you will be plagued by bad connectors all the time. Best thing to do is cut the plugs off and solder them together and use shrink tubing on the solder joins as well as a bigger one to cover the whole cable to keep the moisture out. Perhaps even make end caps for t...

Re: Anemometer speed

I've tested mine to 212kmhr (about 132MPH). It registered 233kmhr with a multiplier of 1.1 due to the height of the unit. It was actually tested with a petrol blower for about 1 minute (or two). Did you want a average speed? (I could check the data, but I think I edited it out completely). I will ad...

Re: using RJ11 to send wind data

Wishful thinking. It sends the information wirelessly every 48 seconds (so never constantly). No output from the temp/humidity sensor. Indoor unit connects via USB, then you would have 2 from rain/wind direct to your computer then connect the temp/humidity (impossible as it has no wired output), whi...

Re: Sensor Positioning

Extend the cable for the wind sensor. Get it as high as you can and the middle most area away from tree's (top of your house?). The tree will create wind eddies (turbulence), and most likely the reason for the wind gauge spinning around. Apart from the problem you mentioned, it will put out all you ...

I use an android app, and think it is great. Information is in the posts here somewhere. Easiest way to find out more is to visit my website and click on the Phone App link at the bottom. Or search. :)

Re: PVC Pipe Fan Aspirated Radiation Shield FARS

I think you are missing the point of going through all that effort. It is so that you can mount it out in the sun and not have the Sun effect the temperatures. The point of mounting it out in the open is so that you get the night time cool air and not get heat radiating from the house. Even with a f...
