Re: Diurnal temperature variation

Bruce thanks for the reply. The question comes from the record lowest and highest temp range that is happening since Steve installed it in one of the latter builds. Since the information is there I wanted to find out how it might benefit. I did run across a place that said these numbers are very imp...

Diurnal temperature variation

Best I can tell this is the same as Cumulus's Lowest or Highest Daily Temp Range. Is that right?

I was doing a bit of digging on the use of the Lowest or Highest Daily Temp Range. Anybody know of a good web page on this range.

Re: Reception Problems

Are you saying you still have the outside temperature but not the rain, wind direction and speed when the usb is plugged in?

Go to this thread on false rain fall for the help you need. That should get you going.

Re: Windows 7 Networks

When I switch computers, I have found using flash drives to be my best deal. I then can arrange my flash drives by things like pictures, doc and so forth. I saw them around here for $4 for 4 GB.

Re: RainDayThreshold noaa report ?

Beau if I remember right the threshold defines what is a measurable amount of rain so if it rains less than that it want count as a rain day. The metric setting I think is 1 mm. The NOAA report configuration page sets what you want the report to show as a low end rain. You could set that as an examp...

Re: My Fine Offset rain gauge mod

Roy,I figure you know this already but are you aware there is a way to correct the rain gauge built into Cumulus under the Configuration Tab at the top of the main Cumulus page?

Re: My Fine Offset rain gauge mod

Really nice work. Much, much nicer than my mod.

You might consider on the next version to include the straight sides of the bottom of the spray bottle to help with wind blow over if your new modified gauge measures short of your manual gauge.

Re: Rain Gauge and Wind

The general conclusion I drew from this is, if your area corrected modified Fine Offset reads less than a good manual gauge, you still have a problem. If the modified gauge read more than your manual gauge, and your math is correct, then the modified gauge is correct.

Re: Rain Gauge and Wind

Alan, I may have not been clear. I am talking about high winds while it is raining. I know I have had high winds without it raining and have not seen any rain recorded. Still you have a good point. This Dr. Strangeway, is the guru of rain measurement from what I have read. He has written a book on r...

Rain Gauge and Wind

I was doing a bit of digging on rain gauge design and have come to a conclusion that calibrating or comparing a modified Fine Offset to a smaller diameter manual gauge can be misleading. Here is a really good source of information. The History of Raingauges by Ian Strangeways http://www.rmets.org/pd...

Re: Cumulus Is Phenominal

Take time to go through the instructions and you will find even more. I've read them all and the Wiki but still miss points od interest and how to do things. I have been using Cumulus for a year now and still keep finding out more about the program. The other good new is if something happens, Steve ...
