Realtime or not
Driving myself mad with this one and I am sure it is something I must have configured wrong, but can't for the life of me fathom out what. I process a webtags file as part of the Extra Web files screen (attached) But I can only get it to upload to my website if I check the "Realtime" box (...

Re: Raspberry Pi 2
..... I to have to find other things for my pi to do. Slightly off-topic, having just received my pi 2, I will be looking to install Cumulus on it soon. I have also been looking into other things I can use the pi for and I have acquired a Z-wave thermostat (Danfoss LC-13) for a radiator so am looki...

Re: Cumulus MX (Cumulus 3)
Just received my Raspberry Pi 2 so want to try and get my head around it and Linux with my VP2. I don't think I'm in a position to give much help in testing as I need to learn Linux, but if you are still happy to add me to the list, I'd be grateful when you get chance Steve? If not, no probs. Is it ...

Re: Replacing Netbook with Raspberry Pi
Thanks all. Interesting info about the RPi2, have also now ordered one to play with and figure out VPN's and file copying but could I also assume Windows 10 will be more familiar for me and "theoretically" run Robocopy and of course setup VPN's in a similar way to Win7 I wonder?

Replacing Netbook with Raspberry Pi
I currently run Cumulus on a netbook running Windows 7 Pro connected to my VP2 and I also use the netbook to run a few other tasks, one of which is to Robocopy some files as a backup over a Rasdial VPN connection from a remote Synology NAS to a local Synology NAS under a scheduled process. When Stev...

Re: Running a weather station "off grid"
Thanks for your input John. Those Davis units aren't in the budget unfortunately. The site is bordered by trees on the southern edge and this would be the only place where another hut could go, so unfortunately that doesn't achieve anything either. With regards to internet updates, for the purposes ...

Re: Running a weather station "off grid"
Thanks Beteljuice, will have a look at that topic. Thanks for your input Alan. I'd been contemplating a couple of 110mah leisure batteries to try and achieve at least a weeks worth of power. Theoretically there is someone at the site every week, so the batteries could either be recharged by a genera...

Running a weather station "off grid"
I am researching the practicalities of installing a weather station at a local RC model aircraft flying field. Mainly to provide current wind and temperature status on the clubs website for pilots to know what the weather is doing at the site before setting off from home. The site doesn't have elect...

Re: Which weather station do I have???
Hi Malcolm,
I believe they are manufactured by Fine Offset, but as to exactly which model, I'm not sure, but I am pretty sure someone else will let you know which one.

Re: It's all your fault....
Thanks Brad. Your advice is exactly what I wanted, you are not butting in! As for WAF, it is a very complicated measure of something used the world over. There are many elements to the value, and as I understand even with my lowly 15 years of studying the various elements, those few who have studied...

Re: It's all your fault....
Thanks for advice Brad. It is a wireless unit, but I would prefer it mounted on the end of garage, rather than in the garden. More for aesthetic and WAF! For any weather obsessives out there, the actual distance from next doors extension will be around 4 meters and about 2 meters from the back of my...

Re: Good News Story
That's quite an interesting one, an insurance company taking a "home" weather system as a defacto statement of conditions. I would have thought they would not have accepted the readings as it wouldn't be considered a "legitimate" or "reliable" source of readings. I'll h...

Re: It's all your fault....
Are you attaching the ISS/Rainbucket above the garage roof also? Hmmm, there will be some compromise, at least initially. I am looking at a 6 foot pole, attached to the end of my garage, but fastened as high up as I can. So I am anticipating the rain bucket will be at around the height of the flat ...
