Re: So many kind of Temperatures!

In terms of walk outside and see what it feels like, to me, the Apparent Temperature seems more accurate more of the time as compared to heat Index.

Re: Accumulated Rain total graph

Thanks Ray for the suggestion.

Steve, that makes sense. Cumulus does everything I want and a whole lot more already so this feature will not be missed. Thank you for the explanation.

Accumulated Rain total graph

Would it be practical for Cumulus to provide a graph in Select-A-Graph that graphed accumulated rain total over the selected period? What I am looking for here is a visual display that will give me an idea where and how long the dry periods were being shown by long flat lines in the graph. It could ...

Re: WS-1080 Solar Incorrect Humidity reading

Just to add another point. The elevation of the instrument can have a lot to with high readings. Below about five feet and you pick up moisture from the surface. Mine inside of course is much lower than the outside this time of the year because of air conditioning. Heat index here today 109 Apparent...

Re: Chill Hours

Steve noted that others might find the feature useful for tracking things like number of hours below freezing.

Having chill hours measured at your station can offer insight on when you will see the first blooms.

What apple trees do you have?

Re: Chill Hours

This is my first year with a bearing Granny Smith tree. The apples want be ripe for sometime. I was surprised the new little apples start out red. Australia is the originators of a lot of good apple varieties as you know.

Rain gauge Bird Poot Stopper

Here is a picture of my fine offset rain gauge with extended sides and bird poot prevent setup. The sides are extended up using aluminum flashing I got from a building store. Easy to bend and you can cut it or mark to bend with a razor knife. I made a simple wire clip to hold it in place to make it ...

Re: Tips on squirrel proofing the bird feeders?

Squirrels we just think we have problems. In south Florida, imported pythons for pets has gotten out of hand. Pet owners have for years let these snakes go when they have gotten too big to handle. They can grow to twenty feet. Now these snakes have found each other. Estimates in the wild range 30,00...
