Re: New weather station WH-3080-solar

Hi Alleycat. Mk2 'full solar' model and still running sweet. I read the threads about suspicion of overcharging 'stalling' the solar circuit. I would have liked to have made a few readings but am happy to leave well alone :) It would be nice to get the circuit unbuilt and on test bench just to see w...

Re: New weather station WH-3080-solar

Hi guys. just had a running battle with my solar system. Every day for about a week the solar sensor failed at midday 'ish on sunny days. This required a reset which always worked. Eventually I got fed up and swapped the batteries for a pair of 3 year old Nikon LiMH 1.2 V rechargeables. Not a blink ...

Re: Accuracy of a WH3081

Hi Geoff. Agree with the previous comments but would also add that the sensor location and containment will probably effect results more than anything else. You really need a Stevenson screen, an 'out in the clear' anemometer location and wind free mod for the rain collector. All achievable but at w...

Re: Skye guy needs help with internet set up.

Heh John. Dont give up yet. I am happy to work you thru it. Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? Do you have any Internet 'web space'? The best thing to do is set up a 'web site' on your 'local' computer. When that's up and running you can put it to the ISP or a 'hosting' service. Email me d...

Re: WH1080 Wind speed sensor not working

hi guys. just had a bearing issue. I knew it was this as I could hear the grinding at ground level. Whipped the spinner off the pole and pulled the top 'cones' off. Its a very tight fit. Soaked the bearing in 3:1 machine oil and its now running fine but for how long? Its a shame that this Chinese cr...

Re: Decoding the Fine Offset station RF transmissions ?

Hi guys. just for info, I treated myself to a Funcube Dongle at Christmas. A really neat radio solution that covers all areas I need including the 868 MHz frequencies. Running the free SDR software gives a panoramic display that shows the FO data in fine detail. I have heard that someone is trying t...

Re: Help for newbie please

Hi guys. just a comment on the new 'solar units' . I upgraded to the 3080 in November and immediately ran into issues. Lost contact, missing data, you name, I had it. After several weeks of experimenting I have noted the following. The new unit appears to have a weaker radio signal. My new units wer...

Hi guys.

Mine just packed in after 4 years in NW England sea-salty rain.

Too rusty to repair so bought a complete replacement for £10.

Re: Webservers

Hi Mark. I use a 15 year old HP laptop with full 'power saving' selected and screen shut down (when lid closed) to run Cumulus. This FTPs to my Virginmedia web space via the router. It consumes about 45W for both. Remote access is via Team Viewer, free for non commercial users. A very excellent prod...
