Re: Lost data and connection to station receiver

Hi Nick. I have been using the same station for many years now. Until recently I also had majors stoppages. Although it may appear unrelated - have you modified the solar sensor by adding a film layer? This simple solution seems to impact on several ares of the FOSH system including excessive UV rea...

    Re: WH3081 Faulty Light/UV sensor

Hi guys. As noted frequently in the forum, this is an expected fault. However, the remedy seems to be very simple and I have just applied it with success (so far). Cut a 3 * 1 cm strip of plastic film. I used a CD flimsy case. Fold it to 1 * 1 cm and Sellotape over the UV sensor. Use tape wide enoug...

    Re: UPS for Raspberry PI

A 6V motorcycle battery would make a great UPS.

Kept 'trickle charged' it will supply 5+ hours at 1A and cost < £20

    Hi guys.

Cumulus and FOSH since June 3rd 2008.

Not without its trials and heartbreak but heh-ho.

The trusty HP laptop is now 18 years old and still running too.

    Record breakers or what ?

    Moving to WordPress from html

    Hi guys.

Am currently moving my html website over to WordPress.

The general pages are fine but am looking for help with the weather pages.

I would like to include the Stainless and Cumulus pages as well as my own html content.

Has anyone done this already please?

Re: Intermittent loss of sensor contact

I had a spell of 60 days without a 'lost contact' but since the sun cam back the issues have returned. I have had a failure every day this week, usually within minutes of lower light level as the sun goes down around 1800. The batteries are high current, 2.5 A NiMH. It would be nice to isolate the s...

Re: Bearings for wind cups WH1080

    Hi guys.

Northern England is wet and windy so the bearings get a battering.

I reworked my original bearing with 24 hour soak in WD40.

    Worked a treat.

Re: Bypassing PC to connect PCE-FWS-20 directly to internet

best option for this is probably using a Raspberry Pi.

Once the setup is running you could disconnect all the attached hardware (screen, kboard, etc) and just have the processor attached to your router.

Running costs on 9/12 V supply would be minimal with few security/safety issues.

    Hi Mike.

Just for comparison just check your 'local' airport (Exeter)

    METAR data include QNH
