Re: Doesn't connect to weather station
I didn't change anything in settings when the data comms stopped. Still set at /dev/ttys000 I have tried /dev/tty.usbserial-A6031IKP, and at first it did not connect. I restarted CumulusMX with this new setting and it seems to work, but for how long? What caused CumulusMX to stop communicating with ...

Re: Doesn't connect to weather station
Well, CumulusMX froze last night and stopped communicating with the Serial Port. Terminating the program resulted in the request for sending you the error files, so here they are. Also, when I tried to fire Cumulus back up, it refused to talk to the serial port again. That is to say, it isn't workin...

Re: Doesn't connect to weather station
Just wanted to add that I finally was able to get CumulusMX talking to my Davis station on my iMac. Ended up needing to use /dev/ttys000, for the serial port, and that worked out great. Thanks for the fix! Everything is loaded and looks like it should, and reporting to CWOP and Wunderground appear t...

Re: Doesn't connect to weather station
I think perhaps I have to use a different identifier for the serial port on OS X (and probably on Linux too). Probably something like "/dev/ttyS0". Do you happen to know if that's correct? That sounds about right. Right now I use Cumulus through a Windows virtual environment but it would ...

Re: Cumulus MX (Cumulus 3)
Hi Steve,
I am running Mac OS Mavericks and would love to try the beta version of Cumulus MX. I have been long waiting for a good weather station software to run on Mac that is as good as Cumulus, so I am very excited about your recent news!
Would love to be a beta tester!
Mike

Re: Cumulus 1.8.8 and WeatherUnderground winds
So, I need to have the "Calculate 10-min wind average" box unchecked? No, checked, to make Cumulus calculate the average in the first place. The ini-file setting modifies the 10-minute interval And the "Use 'speed' for avg calculation" box checked? No, unchecked, as otherwise it...

Re: Cumulus 1.8.8 and WeatherUnderground winds
You can make Cumulus calculate its average wind speed over any period by editing cumulus.ini (with Cumulus stopped) and adding a line to the [Station] section: AvgSpeedMinutes=N where N is the number of minutes you want it to use, e.g. AvgSpeedMinutes=2 for a 2-minute average. So, I need to have th...

Re: Cumulus 1.8.8 and WeatherUnderground winds
Steve, I realize this is an old thread, but I haven't yet seen an option in Cumulus to provide a 2-min wind average. While the 10-min wind is the international standard, do you still have plans to incorporate a 2-min wind option (check box?) for those of us living in the United States? That way, our...

Re: New NOAA Reports
I wanted to add that I think the addition of the NOAA Reports to Cumulus was excellent! I was out of town for 10 days in July and found the reports helped me see what happened when I was gone. Really great new feature.

Re: Stuck Pressure Reporting to CWOP
Added the "Logging=1" to the .ini file you mentioned, and restarted Cumulus. Here are a few sample lines from the debug.log file. Notice upon startup the correct bardata alogrithm goes to work... 0014.336 : MSLP=0 SP=27.4713859558105 AP=30.1001625061035 pIn=29.9939994812012 eFt=2522 mtF=69...

Re: Stuck Pressure Reporting to CWOP
OK, well thanks for helping and looking into it. What is strange is that when I restart Cumulus, it does send the current pressure to CWOP. Moreover, using "View Graphs", I can see the whole trace of the pressure data and it looks great (i.e., not a flat liner). Would turning off the optio...

Re: Stuck Pressure Reporting to CWOP
My VP2 is connected to my laptop, which I purchased early last year, so it does not have any serial port options.
My firmware on the VP2 is fairly old, May 2005.

Re: Stuck Pressure Reporting to CWOP
It is through a USB connection (set to "serial") in the software. I am not using the standard Davis serial-to-usb connector, but am using "Prolific Technologies" PL-2303 serial-to-usb connection on COM PORT 6. It says the device is working properly and the driver is up-to-date. N...
