Re: servere thunderstorm warning for Townsville

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area for a short period before moving offshore. Locations which may be affected include Townsville, Giru, Woodstock and Rollingstone. A wind gust of 109 km/h was recorded in Townsville at 7pm. one of the trees out side my plac...

Re: Webcam links

Back to topic. The bottom pic will display a live picture, so for you lot in the UK, it will most likely be dark hahaha. 9.5hrs+GMT. This is a 960x720 picture at 20% jpeg image quality on Yawcam. I find at this lower resolution that it captures lightning much better than higher quality (where the fr...

Re: Deleteing Highest rain rate in all time records

Thanks, About 2 hours after I posted this I figured out how to change the all time rain record, and I am so glad I did as about 3 min after I reset it We ended up getting pummeled at .62" per hour, Which I am pretty sure would of been the all-time record since October anyway, seeing how we have had...

Re: temperature higher than other stations

Your roof will be most likely be radiating heat that will create a hot air rising up to your temp sensor. This will also affect your humidity readings by making them a lot lower than what they should be. On top of that, you will be getting a rise in temperature due to your "radiation shield" not rad...

Re: Ground Shaking

Can't imagine what a 5.3 would feel like. Here we get Hurricanes and tropical storms (2011, 2012), 3ft-4ft of snow in 24 hours (2011 and 2013), major flooding (8.5in of rain in 24 hours), and I can deal with it all. Earthquakes always scare me as there's no forecasting, and nothing you can do to pr...

Re: Ground Shaking

When quakes reach us from Indonesia to Australia, they generally take 3 minutes when 1500km away, moving at about 30,000kmhr. 70 miles should only take 10-15 seconds to reach you at that pace, but then it might be slower moving in the upper mantle, whereas it has to go through a deeper section to ge...

Thanks Mark, as I know some others only read to 12 or 12+. I'm thinking of upgrading mine, and looking at what will read high UV and to 1% humidity (or under the 10% my WH1081 stops at).
Cheers.

Re: Does anybody know this station?

Looks like there are 4 models. 39MB and 3826MB in both Wi-Fi or not. I would say 39MB should be good for at least 3 years data? Here in Australia they sell the 39MB SD memory card model only at Jaycar.com.au for AU$299 (187 Euro? with 1.6 conversion). It looks like it will be subject to temp spikes ...
