I haven't looked at the code for a while, but I suspect specifying your realtime file as "file://path_to_file/realtime.txt" rather than using http would work.

    Re: Atomic Clock

Oh yes, I had a bash at making a receiver and some software to decode MSF from Rugby. IIRC in those days there were two time signals being broadcast simultaneously - fast and slow. They only seem to broadcast the slow data stream now, never did get it to work reliably. I now have travel alarm clock ...

Re: Cumulus 1.8.9 Realtime wind gauges

I don't think it's possible, because the size is hard coded in. When I get chance to sort it out, I'm going to release the source code for those gauges, so that someone can improve them - they certainly need improving! Or, better still, someone could write some new ones :D If you release the code, ...

Unless the prevailing wind blows the warmed air from the roof onto the sensor?

Re: wind gust = wind speed

Thanks for that info about VSP Ray, we use Virtual Serial Ports on some astronomy software I am involved in, and the lack of free (non-commercial use) signed 64 drivers was a real pain involving booting in developer mode etc.

I did wonder about cutting the aerial track and dangling a wire from the transmitter to get rid of the folding. I wondered what length would be optimal?

Re: Cumulus 1.8.9 won't read my station data (1.8.8 will!)

Just a wild stab in the dark, but does your Windows 2000 machine have a VIA USB chipset on the motherboard? The VIA chipset often needs 'special' handling in the device driver due to timing and buffer size 'issues'. We found this teh hard way when reading Astro CCD cameras which clock the data from ...

I think Imagemagick can create MPEG movies (if you also install the mpeg encoder) amongst a ton of other stuff, it is available for Unix and meets your criteria of being free :)

Gina, you don't need a socket at one end if you replace the cable rather than extend.
