Re: Cumulus installation for website testing

Andrea, I have a Web development computer (with XAMPP) running both Cumulus and Weather Display ... and the Vantage Pro2 console is not even connected to the Web development computer... The setup I have been using: - on the main computer, the one that has the Vantage Pro2 connected to, I use SoftWx ...

Re: Help with centering

Stan, if you have any questions while reading the tutorials, just send me a private message with your questions and I will try my best to explain in an easy to understand language... ;)

Re: virtual vp cumulus and weatherlink

Sorry for not replying earlier to your post - I have been involved with other projects and I did not take the time to read the forums. Unless you have a very under power PC, VirtualVP should not be that 'heavy' - I have VirtualVP, Weather Display, GRLevel3, WXSIM and a few other small utilities runn...

Re: Data Input Appears To Have Stopped

Indeed, I meant the version that you linked to in a previous message. As far as the updates (or the time to update) are concerned, I did not notice any slowdowns as I was not looking for slowdowns ... but then, the development computer is quite fast. The weather data for the development computer is ...

Re: Data Input Appears To Have Stopped

Steve, so that you know, I have been using the modified beta release of Cumulus (build 1058) on my development computer without any problem whatsoever - true, I do not have version 3 of the Davis Instruments firmware in either the WeatherLink adapter nor the console.

Re: Help with centering

Stan, may I recommend that you take some time off from modifying the templates of your site and you look at the tutorials available at the W3Schools site, such as the HTML Tutorial and the CSS Tutorial - going through the tutorials will, at the very least, give you a basic idea on how to work with H...

Re: monthly record?

I dont know anything about HTML or scripts, but I want to learn... It might be a good idea, no, a great idea, if you first start learning about HTMP and PHP before you start/try modifying scripts/templates that you do not even understand ... ... and that learning process could start by readi...

Re: Cumulus Freezes for 9-17 seconds every minute!

You have to understand (and remember) when a URL is entered in a browser without a file name (such as, for example, 'http://www.naasweather.com/wxindex.php') the server will look successively for some very specific files - for example, my Apache Web server look for the following files: index.php ind...

Re: virtual vp cumulus and weatherlink

It must be hugely frustrating for people who can't run more than one weather program via VVP. It's such a brilliant concept. Ray, as I wrote previously, the only operating system under which I have managed to run WeatherLink software without many problems was Windows XP Pro. But, but, I have no pro...

Re: virtual vp cumulus and weatherlink

Since you are using the WeatherLink USB adapter (data logger) I presume you have installed the required CP210x USB to UART Bridge VCP Drivers - the drivers allow proper communications between the data logger and the computer by creating a bridge between the USB port and the serial port, basically co...

Re: virtual vp cumulus and weatherlink

How about giving some additional information such as the type of interface (WeatherLink data logger) used between the weather station console and the computer, the drivers (by name) you have already installed. I can tell you for many years of using VirtualVP that it does not work reliably with the W...

Re: Data Input Appears To Have Stopped

Jim, as Steve indicated, VPLive must be run by itself, in the same manner that Cumulus and WeatherLink have to be run. The only way to run Cumulus and VPLive concurrently is by using VirtualVP (also by SoftWx), a multiple serial port emulator. From information gathered in other forums, the newest re...

Re: Data Input Appears To Have Stopped

...and makes me think that the effort of changing the code in Cumulus to drive the console directly (i.e. not using the DLL) would actually fix this problem. Steve, how much work would be required to 'integrate' the required communication routines within Cumulus - this would certainly be a 'big' st...

Re: Windows 8

But, but, Steve, look at it this way ... if the PC cannot be shut down ... then the PC is already ready to be used ... thus near instant hybrid shutdown/hybrid boot ... just one of the many benefits of Windows 8...
