Re: Barometer Watch

And my top 15 greatest pressure changes. The problem using the Min and Max readings it doesn't capture the greatest change over a 24 hour period. I'm sure Steve must have thought about this but maybe too complex for the number of times it would be of interest. Microsoft Access still very useful when...

Re: Barometer Watch

Like Hans I'm curious why Cortmalaw has shown a three day graph when we're all talking about the greatest pressure change in 24 hours.

Looking at his graph the greatest change appears to be between 06:00 on the 26th to 06:00 on the 27th. 1015 down to 973 = 42hPa.

Re: Barometer Watch

How would you define the record... a) The greatest change within any sliding 24 hour period window, or b) The greatest change over a sliding 24 hour period (ie, fixed start/end times 24 hours apart). I think the former? I agree Mark, a sliding 24 hour window which allows the user to define the poin...

Re: Barometer Watch

@Cortmalaw, your post comes across as pretty patronising. How exactly am I meant to determine that when all I have is the Mk 1 eyeball and looking at my stats on WU? I haven't a clue what 'sigmoid' means. I'm not a professional meteorologist, just a keen amateur. And where is your station based? No ...

Re: Barometer Watch

That's a good record. I got around 35hPa for my daily stat. It's a shame that the pressure started to fall later in the day, otherwise it would have been a greater drop. Worth watching tomorrow night and in to Monday as well. This low pressure deepens again across Western Scotland and then starts m...

Re: Barometer Watch

Pressure still falling very rapidly. That’s over 12 hours now and a rough calculation is it’s fallen from 1023hPa to 977hPa in the last 24 hours. 46hPa in 24 hours is almost two pressure bombs. :o

Re: Barometer Watch

Currently falling at 3.17 hPa / hour. 1025 down to 983 in 24 hours. 42hPa in 24 hours.

What a pity there wasn’t a tag for this. Must be close to an all-time record.

Re: Barometer Watch

@RayProudfoot I'm still waiting on my ISP to make a change to a DNS record. Most email providers are accepting forum emails despite the DNS anomaly. Unfortunately BT Internet aren't. This will be unlikely to be resolved until next week. Apologies. Thanks Freddie. Appreciate it’s nothing to do with ...

In NL the drop rate now is -1.3 hPa/hr and increasing.
Nice situation to adjust some alarm settings.
(and I am not on the west coast)
Falling at -2.42 hPa near Manchester Airport. Pressure bomb well under way. 20hPa drop in 24 hours.

Incidentally, still not getting any email notifications. :|

Re: Barometer Watch

The evening of the 27th looks to have the lowest forecast pressure of 969hPa. That's still so way off my record of 963hPa back in the stormy winter of 13/14. Sat27Dec.jpg Squall lines can be ferocious. One passed through my area on 9 Feb and produced a gust of 65mph which smashed my all-time record ...

Oh goodie. :D You can’t beat a good pressure bomb. Just as long there’s no structural damage.

Panic over!

I was panicking this afternoon after seeing the outside temp hadn't move at all in nearly four hours. It had been stuck on 6.7C from around 11:40 to approaching 15:00. But then it dropped 0.1C and that came as an enormous relief. I thought there may had been a problem with the sensor but that was ch...

Re: PM notifications by email

Hi Ray, thanks for this. I have checked the email logs and your email provider's server (BT Internet) is currently refusing to talk to mine, as mine now has a new IP address. I asked my ISP to make a DNS change to stop this happening but it appears that they haven't done the necessary yet - so I wi...
