Re: Site going down.

Mapantz, They didn’t make that clear when I visited their site the other week. I just found it incredibly off-putting to see a relatively attractive headline price suddenly escalate with all the addons that we’re selected by default.

Re: Site going down.

Thanks Ray. I'm okay because my brother's server hosts mine but I have accumulated 3 or 4 "Cumulus" friends over the years and they are not all up to speed with this sort of thing so I help them out with it. Only two are directly affected by this but I will recommend hostpresto to them. Thanks for ...

Re: .htaccess missing. How to find it?

They offer a free service for the satellite images and they do become unavailable occasionally. It's probably them rather than anything on my site. Other than changing image to img I haven't changed anything pointing to sat24 for ages.

No chance. Bloody daft having weather sites that don’t even have a cookie having to be ‘secure’. I’ve gone through enough today. I need a rest.

Dave
Hi Dave, yes I did. If you have a standard Cumulus1 setup your requirements are tiny. Support is great. They sorted out a PHP problem in a few minutes.

Re: Downloads

I've just realised I don't have the last Cumulus1 package so would appreciate that being made available when you're able to do so.

Re: .htaccess missing. How to find it?

Gents, I'm very grateful for your help. The problem has been solved by the people at HostPresto. I did find a .htaccess file on Steve's server and downloaded it before uploading to HostPresto. But still no joy. I raised a ticket with them and they replied saying they had modified it to work with HTM...

.htaccess missing. How to find it?

I've ported my website to a new host and everything seems okay expect for Local Noon. This is calculated by a piece of PHP supplied by a fellow Cumulus user and resides in indexT.html on www.cheadlehulmeweather.co.uk This is the result of running it. Red because I presume I was rejected. <?php // Ca...

Re: Site going down.

Somewhat amazingly I have signed up to a new provider, copied my files there, changed the IP address for my domain name, updated the settings in Cumulus and the first upload worked seamlessly! :D I'm with HostPresto who are based in the UK and my initial impressions are very favourable. One thing I ...

Re: Site going down.

I've just written to HostPresto - https://hostpresto.com/ - who get very good reviews on Trustpilot giving my requirements including the need for FTP and running PHP scripts. I've just downloaded the entire contents of my data and it comes to 15Mb. And that's over nearly 10 years so you can see my r...

Re: Site going down.

Is anyone offering to host the forum and / or the Wiki? Seems such a shame that so much info could be lost. afaik yes, what time frame these will be available maybe questionable. you can always goto wxforums and chat there. That's good to hear, thanks Simon. I am subscribed to WX Forum so will move...

Re: Site going down.

@archae86, thanks for the write-up on your experience. Hopefully I won't have as many problems but who knows. @beteljuice, thanks. I'm reasonably Windows literate in regard to folders and structure so if I take care I should be okay. Finally, I hope this forum stays available for as long as it takes...

Re: Site going down.

Would I be correct in thinking the following actions should be taken to switch Cumulus from Steve’s server to the new one? 1) Close Cumulus ensuring an upload is not taking place. Create a folder on your PC to hold the downloaded data. C:\Cumtemp is a suitable name. 2) Login to Steve’s server using ...
