Re: MQTT Problems
OK, the problem is that the latest version of mosquitto (which I got when I rebuilt) defaults to not allowing external connections at all. You need to add 'listener 1883' and 'allow_anonymous true' lines to a mosquitto .conf file (as found in /etc/mosquitto/conf.d folder) Hacing got past that I am n...

MQTT Problems
Had to rebuild my Raspberry Pi, from scratch, and now the Cumulus MX MQTT server does not seem to talk to the (new) mosquitto mqtt install. Everything seems the same, but no data flows. The Cumulus MX mxdiag logs show the following: 2021-08-14 18:44:50.915 InitSerial: Connection confirmed 2021-08-14...

Re: MQTT Export - Added Build 3071
Currently not, no.
Just use 'datachanged', send everything, and let the receiver sort out what changed. OK, you get too many messages that way, but not a big deal if the receiver is smart.

Re: MQTT Export - Added Build 3071
Under settings, internet, mqtt, you will find two options - send messages on dataupdate, and send message at fixed intervals. You can enable or disable both of those, and each has a 'template file' which tells Cumulus what to send. The default on is formatted for .json, but you can send what you lik...

Re: MQTT Export - Added Build 3071
Well here is another interested customer!! Need to get the data into Home Assistant and this looks like the sanest way. I only updated to build 3072 so far. When I tried to alter the MQTT details (having mistyped the server IP the first time) I got a slew of errors in the log of the type: 2021-05-17...

Re: MQTT Export - Added Build 3071
Better late than never.. I just updated cumulusmx to get the mqtt function, to feed home assistant, much thanks, but does anyone have the yaml files which tell home assistant what entities it is going to get? Seems like a lot of thinking and typing to recreate? OK, Nobody replied so I kludged someth...

Re: Access to current data (not documented?)
.. I've been using LUA to get it into Domoticz, Hi, I'm also a Domoticz user, is it possible for you to share the lua script ? Thanks Hmm, OK, but this is very much work-in-progress and my LUA coding level is definitely 'newbie'. 8>. Also note that I run in Metric, so I have not coded MPH to M/sec,...

Access to current data (not documented?)
A wrinkle I discovered while looking for a way to access my Cumulus/Davis weather station data, now that WU is pretty much defunct (I was sending it up to WU and then API-ing it back) .. if you access: http://192.168.1.21:8998/api/data/currentdata (replace the URL with your own IP address for the MX...

Re: Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi
Just a quick post to say thanks to all who posted in this thread .. i just got cumulusmx running on my xmas present rpi3b in less than an hour, only wrinkle being that my vantage vue plugged in as /dev/ttyUSB1 instead of 0. Hopefully it will stay there. I can start mx with cron, as recommended, but ...

Re: Monthly log file not updating
Thanks guys, I was sure someone would know (I did a search and failed to find that wiki page!).
Guess I'll have to fudge the .ini line .. I'd like the rainfall and wind data logged (and the broken temp data is logged anyway, IF/WHEN I restart cumulus).

Monthly log file not updating
My Davis Vantage Vue has blown the (outdoor) temp/humidity sensor(s), which is a PITA since the whole sensor suite / wireless Xmitter is one unit, and expensive to replace .. however back on topic .. after this has happened it seems that Cumulus (1) is not writing to the monthly log file. I am still...

Re: Weather Underground API .. oops
Thanks all, that accords with what i heard. I wonder if there is another place to put/get my pws data, or some other method to suck it into domoticz (which runs on a synology server elsewhere on the network, so can't directly see the cumulus data files .. at least i haven't figured out how)
