Re: Will it or won't it..

In the end 39.8C was the highest record temperature on 19th July. The highest minimum was 20.9C on the same day, but most of the night time temperatures were around 25C. The biggest surprise was on 18th July when the humidity dropped to 15%. Many years ago I put a line in the program to consider any...

Re: Will it or won't it..

The wind has picked up a bit here, and moved from 'South' to 'SSW'. A little 'pennine cloud' has developed, and moved over North Lincolnshire. It has knocked the temperature down to 38. I don't think it will bounce back now. 39.8 is the new record for me. I hope it is never broken. but . . . . :?

Re: Will it or won't it..

This is my experience too. In 2019. 33.2. This isn't just a slight nudge in temperature, it is a massive increase - for me anyway.

39.8 just came up!

Re: Will it or won't it..

Here in North Lincolnshire my record was well and truly smashed yesterday with 37.1. Now reading 39.6. I never thought I would ever see figures like this in the East Midlands - or the UK generally.

Re: New Record? Post here.

My wind run record was broken on 9th Feb 2020 with 439 miles.

Top 5 since 2014

9/2/2020 439
1/3/2018 395
5/12/2015 382
2/3/2018 365
17/3/2018 339

March 2018 was certainly a windy month, on the eastern side of the Pennines, anyway.

Re: New Record? Post here.

Ray

That same line passed me at 13:35, although it wasn't as wide by then. As it hit, the air temperature dropped from 15 to 7 degrees in less than 2 minutes! :o

The wind run record is likely to be exceeded well before midnight.

Re: New Record? Post here.

I've not recorded winds like this over the last 12 years.
The peak gust so far is 66.8 mph at 11:39. The previous record was 53.5 mph on 3rd March 2019.
I wasn't even sure if those old type plastic anemometers were capable of holding together at that speed!

Re: New Record? Post here.

The pressure seemed to peak at 1046.5 at 0121 2020-01-20. However, it only dropped 1.5 and is now going back up again. It may not be the end of the story.

Re: Thank you, Steve for 15 years of support

Thank you Steve. It is very rare to find someone so willing to help and support users of their software. I can think of several occasions when I had problems that I really couldn't solve, and you were so quick in your reply, and all in a language that I could understand. The way Cumulus writes and r...

Re: Maplin in administration - where to buy spare parts now?

Spiders are no1 problem with rain guages. Those web strands will hold up the tipper filled with ball bearings let alone water. :D Stop up all the holes, and put a fine grill over the drainage. A small piece of gauze will do. £19!! :o It can't cost much more than £2.50 to make, even with a magnet &am...

Re: New Record? Post here.

I actually got a record yesterday Max Apparent Temp 28.1C Also last night was nearly 26C at 8pm, which is unheard of in NI. Exactly the same temperature here. I was sitting outside in shirt sleeves until midnight - by then it had only fallen to 19C The temperature last night got down to just 14'C -...

Re: New Record? Post here.

I thought that my east coast 30.6C record was going to hard to beat here, but a brisk southerly wind has mitigated any cooling sea-breeze this afternoon, and now it is 32C. I don't know about anyone else but the overnight temperatures are not excessively high to match - thank goodness! The average i...

Re: New Record? Post here.

A few mm of rain yesterday (20th July) brought to an end the longest dry period of 33 days. I don't imagine that will be broken for a very long time. 4 miles from the east coast means any rain normally has time to fizzle out before it reaches us. The sea breeze keeps us a little cooler. The all time...

Re: Maplin in administration - where to buy spare parts now?

I did receive my order from Maplins so receivership is not affecting mail-order purchases at the moment. In fact Maplins are reducing the prices of everything by 10%. Unfortunately the wind speed gauge is the only spare available at the moment. The entire station is available with a 10% reduction, b...
