Re: v3.9.4 beta test

Hi Tony, In summary: I cannot explain why you have a perfect maps.txt but there are no stations in it. So I blame the activation of two instances (see below), but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. So run again with just mapson and see what happens. And btw, this has no relation with the 3.6...

Re: v3.9.4 beta test

Thank you Billy. This actually makes it very clear we did create collisions (look at the time it sometimes take to get a lock!!), it was a very successful test. Furthermore I am happy we did not have more participants because that would have made it a lot more difficult to analyse and very probable ...

Re: v3.9.4 beta test

@Tony: Thanks! The running of the normal 5 min run is an unexpected complication (I had deleted my normal 10 min runs) but it is interesting to note that the complicated result of that was that it created locks itself and the situation was resolved perfectly. So I am happy with it. No orphaned lockf...

Re: v3.9.4 beta test

OK, the test has finished just a few minutes ago and as far as I could see - I followed the creation and deletion of the lockfiles - it all went perfectly well. I could see them following each other, and when there were two lockfiles one disappeared (failing the lock) so I expect the logfiles to wel...

Re: Sharing violation on local copy

Listening in and hearing the problem, it started to make me wonder: maybe it has something to do with not releasing memory (keeping some list assigned to variable) which inhibits the garbage collector to kick in. Then after a while I would expect it to start swapping and that in turn would definitel...

Re: v3.9.4 beta test

Great guys! We have 4 participants (12 downloads though :? ) that should be enough.
I really am curious if we are able to create at least one collision!
What I hoped did not occur in the old one, I wish for now ;)

Log files a bit later is of course not a problem, I'll analyse over the weekend.

Re: FWI script

You must run it in the CumulusMX directory. For pwsFWI, the command would be: " ./cumulusutils.exe pwsfwi ". If run on Windows this should work, if run on Linux and Cumulus is running mono is already active. If Cumulus is not running it must be preceded by "mono ". It create a logfile in the utils/u...

Re: v3.9.4 beta test

Thanks Javier. Aha, interesting situation. Actually, for the test, I would say it is not required to actually upload the resulting maps.txt file (if automatic no need to bother of course) so I would say: don't do the upload. Saves you the stress of manual timing. Just start the command every minute....

Re: v3.9.4 beta test

OK. Great!
Delay in sending the logs is better than delay in syncing the runs :lol:
(NOTE: you can start using the executable, it is a perfectly healthy one with just a new piece of code in need of verification. You never now what that may bring ;) )

v3.9.4 beta test

As announced in the Installation thread, there is a new version coming up with FTP locking so that the corruption of the stationswithutils.xml can be prevented and manual interaction from my side is no longer required. The test which I would like to see run before releasing it is described in the ac...

Re: Installation

Good, I'll make a new thread for the test, publishing the beta-release and the test spec for this. I think about a synchronised run at 11u00 and 12u00 UTC on friday 3/7 assuming synced computers and programmed start of exec. Hope some others will join, because creating intentional collisions is not ...

Re: Not downloading archive

Paul, enter this in the inifile ([Station] section) and don't remove those, these set CumulusMX debug as wanted. Set them to 0 / 1 as required.

Code: Select all

Logging=0
DataLogging=0

Re: Installation

@all: OK! I am working to solve that annoying 'once in a while error' with the map by implementing an FTP lockfile mechanism. I may need some testers who are willing to synchronise runs of " Cumulusutils mapson " so to enforce collisions. Think it over, I'll be asking within some days or so. This al...

Re: Installation

@billy: @BeaumarisWX: @all: There seems to be an issue with the copy back mechanism of the maps datafile, creating a hole of some characters. Once in a while this makes the XML scan of the next user erroneous and causes a crash. Still have not found the cause. It's an FTP write back - just plain FTP...
