Re: Sunbird Screenlet (Ubuntu)

Cannot read the page. The URL gives me an XML error :? Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari all happily download a file called "sunbird.widget" IE will try and read the thing, and even if you right click and say "Save Target As..." it sticks an .xml extension to it. So: short o...

Sunbird Screenlet (Yahoo Widget)

Hi guys, I have the same thing written as a Yahoo Widget. I really don't use windows that much and can't promise that this is as stable as the Ubuntu Screenlet, but here it is anyway. http://www.faqawi.com/sunbird/widget/Sunbird.widget Give it a spin, and if you can improve on it - go ahead. Regards...

Re: Sunbird Screenlet (Ubuntu)

Hi all, I released a minor update to the Ubuntu Screenlet (latest version is now 0.85 - available here: http://faqawi.com/sunbird/screenlet/SunbirdScreenlet-0.85.tar.gz ) This update removes rounding on the rain-rate, and rain-today fields, which rounded these fields to a single decimal place. This ...

Re: Sunbird Screenlet (Ubuntu)

Hello Stef, Wow! Dis heerlik om Afrikaans op hierdie forums te lees! En nogal 'n Ubuntu Screenlet gebruiker ook... :D You may not believe this, but it could very well be a bug in my code, and the simple reason why I have not picked it up yet, is because we have not had any rain in a *very* long time...

Re: Sunbird Widget (Yahoo! Widget)

Good idea/nice format... How might this be morphed into a "web page widget?" http://news.cnet.com/8301-10784_3-6122719-7.html Could it be made to run independent of the yahoo engine or as a packaged (freestanding) executable... Hi Lex, I'm not really that hot on web-page widgets, even tho...

Re: Overlaid transparent images

Hi guys, I'm not a great fan of the GIF format for the reasons stated above, but mostly because it only has a 1 bit alpha channel. That means its transparency is either all-on, or all-off, and nothing in between. The result is usually a rather jagged-looking thing, as proper anti-aliasing is not pos...

Cloud Types

Hi guys, I had an interesting (at least to me) discussion with a friend of mine around the names of different cloud types, i.e. cumulus, stratus, cirrus etc. He made a comment that I find hard to believe, claiming that the prefix "nimbo" (as is nimbostratus) or the postfix "nimbus&quo...

Re: Sunbird Widget (Yahoo! Widget)

Hello Harmen, This widget/screenlet does not look at any public weather broadcasts, but rather private weather stations. These are commercially available weather stations such as the Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus, Oregon Scientific, Fine Offset Electronics or La Crosse Technology stations. Many people are...

Re: Sunbird Widget (Yahoo! Widget)

Hi guys, Its possible that there are problems with the wind chill temp. I tried to make it so that it shows either "wind chill" or "heat index" depending on which applies. To my understanding it is only ever the one or the other (?) . Heat index when it feels warmer than what it ...

Re: favicon

I might be *very* johnny-come-lately here, but I know that favicons are notoriously sticky in your cash.
So I always need to clear my cash when I changed a favicon in order to see the changes.

2c worth.

Re: Sunbird Screenlet (Ubuntu)

Hi all, (although I think "all" is a bit of an overstatement here - I think there is one other Sunbird Screenlet user in the world - if that :) ) I updated the Sunbird Screenlet to version 0.8. The direct download link is here: http://www.faqawi.com/sunbird/screenlet/SunbirdScreenlet-0.8.t...

Re: Sunbird Widget (Yahoo! Widget)

Something just occurred to me - why does the extra file need the current time in it (<#update>) when the realtime.txt file has that in it anyway? Jip, that's entirely unnecessary. I think I made a mistake to add that in. The widget does not really ever look at that field, but don't drop it - the wi...

Re: Sunbird Widget (Yahoo! Widget)

Hi Paul,

Try to right click on the link above, and select "save as" or "save target as" or "save link as" or something like (I forget the exact wording in IE). Then save the sunbird.widget file to computer, and take it from there.
