Forecast Numbers for Davis Vantage Vue
Steve, I am not using the Cumulus forecast but instead relying on the one that the Davis outputs as I understand it is more "comprehensive" (correct me if I'm wrong). I also using Jacques' Weather Blues HTML template that displays a forecast icon. The problem is that Jacques informs me tha...

Re: setting up my davis vp2 Lat & long
Sometimes I wonder why I bother. It seems that several times a week I have to deal with someone with an attitude, and I'm getting fed up with it. Steve, Please don't feel disheartened by a couple of members that are unhappy or have an attitude. They are definitely in the minority. The other 99+% of...

Re: Windows 8
I'm undecided as well. I've used Win8 on my laptop and it takes a little getting used to over Windows7. That being said, my main PC that has Cumulus on it will "probably" not be upgraded to Win8. Like the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". And we all know that Microsof...

Re: Realtime.txt and SteelSeries Gauges
You could try using an non-text file extension, or no file extension at all, and see what happens. Wow is all I can say! It's always the simple things that trip you up. Uploading the file as realtimegauges without the extension did the trick finally. SteelSeries is now up and running. Thank you, th...

Re: Dayfile Issue
Why not just use the one batch file to do everything? You probably don't even need to copy the file, just tell the ftp program what to call it on the server. Now why didn't I think of that  That's what separates those that "know what they're doing" and those that "think they kn...

Dayfile Issue
Steve, Using the nicely detailed instructions in the Wiki, I have set up a couple of batch files to take care of uploading the dayfile to 000webhost.com as a php file rather than a txt file since they don't support text files. The first batch file just copies dayfile.txt to dayfile.php in the same f...

Re: Realtime.txt and SteelSeries Gauges
Forgive the ignorance of someone who knows nothing about html or php. Yes, if I "view source" on that webpage I can see the code you are referring to at the end of the "page". However, I do not see at the end of the 'realtimegauges.php' file. I just logged in to the server ...

Re: Realtime.txt and SteelSeries Gauges
Thanks Mark & Steve, What are the odds of both of you replying at the same time  Where do you see that code??? If I open the open PHP file or the above txt file I don't see the code you are referring to. If the server is indeed adding code somehow, do you have any suggestion as to how to av...

Re: Realtime.txt and SteelSeries Gauges
Further to my last post, I don't know why the file was showing zero bytes because I just checked it again and it shows correctly. However, when I check my "gauges" web page, the scroller indicates the file is corrupt and none of the gauges are active. I've attached a copy of my php file (I...

Re: Realtime.txt and SteelSeries Gauges
Thanks for the clarification Steve.
I've set everything up as described but for some reason the file on the server is zero bytes.
The local realtimegauges.txttmp is being updated regularly.
Any idea as to why the server file is empty???

Re: Realtime.txt and SteelSeries Gauges
Mark, One more question. If I leave Cumulus at a Realtime interval of 30 seconds do I have to keep renaming the realtime.txt to realtime.php or can I have my local filename as realtime.txt and the remote filename as realtime.php. Does Cumulus then upload the file as txt and then change it on the rem...

Re: Realtime.txt and SteelSeries Gauges
Mark,
I knew it had to be easy and thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'm looking forward to implementing the gauges.

Realtime.txt and SteelSeries Gauges
Mark, My web host doesn't support text files. I've successfully got around that issue with the dayfile.txt by running a service after midnight and running a batch file to copy the txt file as a php file. Then the php file is uploaded to the server and "read" by another css file that proces...

Changing Units on A Vantage Vue and in Cumulus
I know it's not a wise idea to change units from Imperial to Metric or vice versa. My Davis weather station has been set up for about 2 weeks and because I have always used Imperial measurements that is how I set up the station and Cumulus. Now that I'm publishing the data on my website here in Cana...

Re: Unable to upload data to webspace
Steve, thanks for the quick reply and pointing me in the right direction.
I had searched for an hour through the forum using keywords like heading and font without success. Even checked the help file but didn't think to check the WIKI.
