Re: Long time to download data when starting Cumulus

Hi Thanks for your reply. I presume the FAQ refers to the "Data Log Interval" in Cumulus setup. This is set to 10 mins, however I cannot find any information in the console manual that tells me how to find the data logging interval of the station.

Long time to download data when starting Cumulus

Hi Cumulus starts each morning when my PC boots up however it now takes almost two minutes to download the data from the Davis Vantage Pro2Vue console. I have ticked the "Synchronize Davis clock to PC" box in the setup page but it does not seem to sync the Davis console clock to the PC. I am running...

Re: Dayfile.txt corrupted after Restore

Thanks Steve, all sorted. I'm still baffled about how a Restore could have caused this.

Dayfile.txt corrupted after Restore

After a monumental crash on 27 January which necessitated a complete Restore, my Dayfile.txt file has become corrupted. It lists data for January 2013 in four places consecutively. The Cumulus main display also shows an erroneous rainfall total which I can't seem to edit. Op Sys = Win XP SP3 Any hel...

Re: Solar Data and "Max" Values

Steve I've just had a long conversation with a specialist scientist at the NZ government's National Institute of Water and Atmosphere Research. Firstly according to their records the Ryan-Stolzenbach theoretical maximum radiation levels here in Christchurch match your T/Max curve almost exactly usin...

Re: Solar Data and "Max" Values

Not necessarily. To get it reasonably close all you need is a bright clear sunny day then calibrate the sensor to read the same as the Ryan-Stolzebach theoretical maximum for that time and place. In Davis's case they need an accurate known constant to calibrate to.

Re: Solar Data and "Max" Values

The solar constant or the maximum amount of solar radiation that reaches the top of our atmosphere at 90 degrees to the sun is about 1369 watts per square metre. The Ryan-Stolzenbach formula calculates the amount of radiation that can reach the surface of the earth at a given time and date due to va...

Re: Solar Data and "Max" Values

Solar readings.png I have a similar problem. The Davis solar sensor on my station (http://www.lrl.co.nz/weather) consistently reads about 40% higher than the theoretical max for Christchurch NZ. Tweaking the trans factor does not and cannot solve the problem as the t/max for this area and time is q...
