Re: Fed up with Fine Offset. I want to start from scratch?

One thing I neglected to think about - if I got a raspberry pi (or arduino) solution I would lose my ability to use Cumulus, which I love.

It sounds like a linux version of cumulus is in the works, so that might be a solution once that is ready to test.

Re: Fed up with Fine Offset. I want to start from scratch?

I found this interesting post: http://www.susa.net/wordpress/2012/08/raspberry-pi-reading-wh1081-weather-sensors-using-an-rfm01-and-rfm12b/ And it looks a little closer to my skillset, but still requires some soldering and tinkering. I do have a spare raspberry pi sitting around, so I wouldn't have ...

Re: Fed up with Fine Offset. I want to start from scratch?

I too was totally over the communication and corrupted data issues with my Fine Offset. I ended up making a WeatherDuino Pro2 and it's been brilliant! You can read about it, if you're interested, here: http://www.meteocercal.info/forum/Thread-What-is-the-WeatherDuino-Pro2 That looks really interest...

Re: Fed up with Fine Offset. I want to start from scratch?

Did this project ever go anywhere? It is 2 years old now, but it never seemed to have much success. As several have said, I am looking for a way to read the data from the Fine Offset (WS-2080) station. The station works fine, but I've had numerous problems with the base station. The base station now...

Re: Problems with station communication: USB locks up comple

The other thing to enable is the power setting on the USB ports if you are running windows 7 or 8. The specific steps are somewhere back in this thread. Mine has been humming along well - I did have one lockup after a month or so, but that is WAY better than having it lockup every 4 or 5 days. I als...

Re: Problems with station communication: USB locks up comple

Just another short update - I have been running the 1058 beta build for 3 weeks now and it has been working flawlessly. No lockups at all. I don't believe I've ever run anywhere close to this long without issues before. Thank you for being persistent with this issue! I made a donation to express my ...

Re: Problems with station communication: USB locks up comple

However, the 'sensor clock' looks odd. 1/13/2013 11:15:01.930 : Sensor clock 11:00:37 AM 1/13/2013 11:31:02.024 : Sensor clock 11:30:51 AM I make that 1814 seconds difference, which I think is 38 seconds different, modulo 48. Do you agree? I'm not sure what you are comparing it to? 38 seconds diffe...

Re: Problems with station communication: USB locks up comple

OK, I think I did what you asked. I stopped Cumulus, edited today.ini to remove the following two values: FOSensorClockTime=41287.4797675116 FOStationClockTime=41287.479884537 I restarted, and waited for both of those values to be populated in today.ini (which seems like it should be sync). I record...

Re: Problems with station communication: USB locks up comple

While determining the 'station clock' time, it presumably read the data on the 'sensor clock' interval. I suppose I could try to make it avoid doing that, but that then has the potential to miss a 'station clock' change and have to wait for the next one. I don't know if that's what pywws does. And ...

Re: Problems with station communication: USB locks up comple

I guess I shouldn't have said anything - it locked up a few minutes ago. The good news is that the Cumulus Toolbox alert I had set up worked PERFECTLY, and I was notified immediately that it had locked up, so I didn't lose much data. I took a look at the diags folder and it kind of looks like it loc...

Re: Problems with station communication: USB locks up comple

Just wanted to let you know that the new beta version (once I enabled the synchronization option) seems to be working. I used to go about 5 days before a lockup - so far, I've been over 10 days and it is working fine thus far. Fingers crossed..... Thanks for the feedback. It does seem to be working...

Re: Cumulus Toolbox webtags support

Well, actually, I've created quite a lot of documentation, and continue to do so ;) Sorry, I didn't mean to insinuate there is no documentation - there is quite a bit of documentation out there for Cumulus, and what is there is really good. But I think documentation can always be clearer or more co...

Re: Cumulus Toolbox webtags support

I completely understand you don't have time to create documentation in addition to maintaining Cumulus. I'd be happy to write something up if I understood it more completely. I guess the order of things isn't as important as what all the steps are that it goes through. For my own experience, I was o...

Re: Cumulus Toolbox webtags support

I wasn't actually referring to the order in which the individual tags are processed, I was thinking more details, something like this (and I don't think my understanding is correct): When doing a web update, the following happens: If the "include standard files" option is checked, all of the standar...
