Re: New Davis TH sensor
Unfortunately those are not compatible with the legacy LSS protocol.

Re: Vantage Vue - do I need the logger?
Of course you don't need to buy a Davis logger, there are third party alternatives that work equally well with Cumulus.adsl3g wrote:steve wrote:Yes, you can't connect it to a computer without a logger.
Thanks - much appreciated

Re: New Davis TH sensor
And for those who are considering building your own sensor, this should only be attempted if you are experienced at very small surface mount soldering. The chip measures 3x3 mm and has 8 pads that require connecting. I have over 20 years experience doing this sort of thing and have found this one pa...

Re: New Davis TH sensor
Unfortunately the sensor that Davis use is the sht31-LSS legacy protocol sensor which is not readily available. The sensors on Farnell are the SHT31-DI i2c protocol and will not work with the VP2.

Re: Opinions of the Vantage Vue?
I have just been playing with a Meteobridge and using the new firmware I have made the logger, over my wi-fi, connect to Cumulus as if it were a Weatherlink IP! So now with a lot of help from other sources the Belfryboy logger is truly wireless. Many thanks to everyone's continued support of this fu...

Re: VP2 Hardware and Firmware Requirements
Many apologies for the delay in responding to the above posts, I'm working from a remote site with limited time at the moment. The opening poster (chuck29) has version 1.9 and asked whether this was sufficient, Steve posted that it was and BCJKiwi commented that the 3rd party logger only work with v...

Re: VP2 Hardware and Firmware Requirements
Note that at this time, 3rd party serial adapters only work with 1.9 firmware so if you go that route, you will not be able to upgrade your firmware should you want (or need) to in the future. Going rate for the Davis serial or USB logger is around US$118 (including Weatherlink Software). That is n...

Re: Uk based davis anemometer repair service
Hi, only just registered so cannot PM you yet... My Anemometer has stopped working - suspect it is a reed switch failure. The station is a Vantage Pro2, about 5 years old. Can you PM an idea of repair costs, before I fork out for a new one! Thanks, Marc. Marc, I have sent a Private Message with reg...

Re: 3.12 "Incompatible Logger"
The original VP1 logger was compatible with the VP2 and Vue until fairly recently, Davis claim that hardware changes made to the consoles meant that this was no longer the case. For more information on this there is a long thread on the WXforum.org in the Davis instruments section. I would contact y...

Re: Uk based davis anemometer repair service
Steve, that's right, my mistake. Just the wind vane is not compatible. Prodata is right that in most cases it is not economic to repair the anemometer. I take about an hout to do a reed switch replacement, and at my (professional) hourly rate it would be cheaper to replace the whole assembly if I to...

Re: Uk based davis anemometer repair service
It would also appear that the new anemometer is not compatible with older stations (Manf. code AHxxxxxxxx and younger).

Re: Uk based davis anemometer repair service
The reed switch in the anemometer is not too hard to replace if you have the right skills, I have written a guide for doing this. I am also happy to do this repair.

Re: Uk based davis anemometer repair service
I am quite happy to service the rain gauge tipping bucket, and I hope to soon offer an alternative to the Davis T/H sensor. I am able to replace the sensor on an existing T/H board also.

Re: Setting Baud rate in Windows for WeatherLink data logger
Whilst device manager may show the baud rate at 9600, the software (Cumulus/Weatherlink) will AFAIK control the actual baud rate. The data would be pure garbage at 9600 and the software would not recognise the station.
