Re: New Record? Post here.

My anemometer recorded a gust of 96.6 mph , continuous of 71 mph, before it expired! Brian I recently bought a new wind direction and anemometer from Maplin if you get both you qualify for free delivery, the build quality not quite as good but work fine. http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-replacement...

Re: Mine’s Bigger than Yours

Not up to Steve's standards, but not bad: -

Highest Wind Gust 67.8 mph 05.19 27/12/13

Highest Wind Speed 52.9 mph 06.44 27/12/13

Highest Wind Run 849.9 miles on 27/12/13

Stay safe everybody, the weather's not getting any better for a while. :(

Re: Recent Extremes for recent UK storms (January 2012)

Highest gust 59.3 mph Highest average 46.7 mph Both 3rd January, between 4.00 am & 6.00 am. Not up to Steve's extreme weather, but not bad. As a quick aside, about 4 years ago, before I had a weather station, sadly, the wind blew my car, a CMax, about 20 feet into a wall! I should mention, I liv...

Re: WH1081 not Recognised as HID Compliant Device

John, I just pointed it at C:/Windows/Winsxs, and it found it in there. Have you tried that? I realise this isn't quite the same, as my problem was with W7, not XP. Hope it works! Apparently that is a directory basically from Vista/7 so probably doesn't work properly in XP. Will persist! Thanks, Jo...

Re: WH1081 not Recognised as HID Compliant Device

Does the 1081 show as an unknown device in Device Manager? If so, click on properties, drivers, (I think) and ask it to install a driver from a specific location - C:/Windows/Winsxs Yes, it does, but in winsxs I just have a bunch of cryptically named directories... eg: x86_Microsoft.VC80.MFC_1fc8b3...

Re: Hurricane Katia might get to the UK on Monday

I watched the BBC1 weather forecast at 6:30pm tonight and the presenter talked about strong winds and rain on Monday but made no mention of ex-hurricane Katia. I despair, I really do. The powers that be probably think any mention of a hurricane will have everybody running round like headless...

Re: WH1081 not Recognised as HID Compliant Device

Hey Brian, how did you get this working? I have a 1081, and am trying to connect to XP running in a VMWare machine, and it is not recognising it. Any tips appreciated... Thanks John. Re: Sad day locally

Being a small place, Anglesey does feel any loss of life, last night, my lifeboat station responded to a call of two people in the water just down the coast. Our lifeboat, & a bigger one locally attended, along with the SAR Helicopter, local coastguards etc. Sadly they pulled one guy from under...

Re: WH1081 not Recognised as HID Compliant Device

Brian (I suppose - no signature in your message), Windows 7 64-bit will only accept signed drivers and nothing else. You might be able to circumvent that requirement by 'forcing' a driver's installation but this might eventually lead to other problem or corruption or even a deactivation of the driv...

Re: Hello

Hey Brian, not too far from your local lifeboat station I see! Hello from just up the coast from ya! Hi, Rob! Good to see someone in the same area! - yes, just up from the lifeboat station. Our plumber is part of the crew. It makes life interesting, one minute he's putting a new bathroom in, next, ...
