Oh, I thought that was a switch in the ini file.
Must be a usb problem. Of some kind. Probably not worth solving. The city put in a station down the road from mine.

Re: MXDiags always on, sometimes adding 2-3 GB per day
Hmmm. I have an FTP server, and it's updating the files okay.
I reinstalled the software files, trying to see if it was a corrupted file somewhere causing my difficulty, but the behavior was the same.

MXDiags always on, sometimes adding 2-3 GB per day
I have this trouble with the MXDiags folder. It keeps filling up, though I have the setting to use them turned off. And sometimes, maybe once a week, it fills with a huge amount of information. I attached my expurgated cumulus.ini file (named Cumulus.txt). Maybe there is a setting I missed. Running ...

Re: Unable to connect to station, windows 10

Unable to connect to station, windows 10
I'm seeing some strange behavior, and have for some time: I had the station running perfectly before I moved the computer, using Davis Vue. When I moved it, I plugged the USB into a different port. Since that time I get the Unable to connect to station error a lot, but am able to get it working if I...

Re: Windows 10 doesn't respond to CTRL-C after a while
The logs only show what appears to be normal operation until one CTRL-C, kill process or shutdown command closed it. The one it saw was a kill process command from the task manager. It never appeared to "see" the CTRL-C. I'l keep an eye on it, wait a week and try again to stop the process ...

Windows 10 doesn't respond to CTRL-C after a while
My running instance of CumulusMX (3038) on Windows 10 will stop responding to a CTRL-C command after a while, typically a more than a week after the instance is started. The operation of the instance is perfectly normal at the time. The instance will still respond to a killtask command issued by the...

Windows 10 Virtual Machine on a QNAP (Intel) NAS box
Two oddities setting up CumulusMX in a virtual on a NAS: I set up a Windows 10 virtual machine on my QNAP TS-251+ (Intel CPU). I set up the USB port forwarding to the VM, and inside the VM confirmed that COM3 from my Davis Vantage VUE was present (though I did not go into the terminal to see if I co...

Re: Disaster strikes
Odd coincidence. Yesterday I noticed my CumulusMX box seemed to be down (Laptop). Turns out the SSD completely died. "No worries" I said to myself, I have two backups (File History and a dir sync). Turns out I really should have checked them after setting them up. They each did one backup,...

Re: Where is the sun at 6.00pm GMT ?
I use one of the many compass apps on my smart phone to get the magnetic declination at my location. Then I use a good sighting compass to measure the bearing of the wind vane.

Is FatCat a place, or is that you? And are you so big you have your own weather system?
You might want to add some text which says where you are for those who don't want to fire up Google Earth to find out.

Re: Lattitude & Longitude site
From the lay of the land east of Manitoba I'm guessing your visible sunrise is always late. Your sunset happens a couple minutes earlier. I have mountains on both sides of my location. Visible sunrise happens almost an hour later than it would were I on the ocean. http://science.uvu.edu/wilson/webca...

Re: WWV Radio Signal
The WWV signal used for setting clocks, sent from the WWVB transmitter, has a very low frequency (60 kHz) which propagates only at night. Wait 'till tomorrow to see if it got through. Oops, just saw you've already waited three days. I am unaware of placement, other than getting it higher in the hous...

Re: Davis Vantage without any Sensors or ISS
Maybe you'll get lucky and find a neighbor's ISS you can hear--just like having your own.
