Re: Possible memory leak

Just to close this down.... I have been running .3049 on the RPi 3B+ using TCP connection to Meteobridge ( version 3.9 bld 2057 - running on TL-MR3020V3) since 28/4/19 without any further issues. It would appear that a Pi Zero W just doesn't have the power to cope with the demands of running this wa...

Re: Possible memory leak

My LAN has both wired (most systems) and wireless (mostly portable devices) through two access points. Originally CumulusMX was being run on my RPi 3B WWW server. Then I started to get problems with CMX 'hogging the system' - CPU loads in excess of 60% average! I first noticed this with V3.3043 of C...

Re: Possible memory leak

It went out again last night... Final update of index.htm was 23:05:00 although the attached logs show it tried to upload at 23:10:00 Two files attached - the entire FTPlog and the MXdiags log up to and including the problem area. NOTE Looking at the ftplog it would appear that the real time files c...

Re: Possible memory leak

I have initiated FTP log - one other thing, on closer inspection of the debug log it is getting messages like .. 2019-04-26 23:24:18.548 Test of realtime FTP connection failed: Timed out trying to read data from the socket stream! 2019-04-26 23:24:18.549 Realtime ftp not connected - reconnecting 201...

Re: Possible memory leak

One further thing....

The last update of index.htm was at 03:05:00 and the log file after this shows similar entries for the rest of the file.

Re: Possible memory leak

OK it 'failed' again in the early morning and I had debug logging turned on. I now have a 1.3Gb log file! I have included snippets from this at what I see to be the possible areas to look at. It does look like a network stack issue but the connection is to my main WWW and MariaDB server is still ope...

Re: Possible memory leak

Mark

i have a second system (Weatherflow + meteobridge) logging into the same database server. This appears to have kept on working during this time - I will do some more investigations when I am back home later this week.

Re: Possible memory leak

Mark To add to this I too have noticed this type of behaviour since upgrade to v3047 (I am now on 3048) I haven't turned debug on yet but have the following observations.. The system is running 'flat out' with the main process taking 94%+ ( I have attached a TOP report of failed system) I also have ...

Re: Raspberry Pi: Long term reliability

I have a set up similar to Mark and would recommend it. I have had no reliability issues with RPis for over three years now - the only one that broke did so physically when i sat on my original Pi Zero! Small SSD disks can be obtained relatively cheaply nowadays.

Re: pre made raspberry pi - Cumulus mx img

I understood that the MONO version issue only affected comms between the FineOffset and derivative weather stations. Comms to the DAVIS systems is done in a different manner and MONO version is much less critical - as I say I am using a V5 MONO under "jessie" without any problems at all. The post yo...

Re: pre made raspberry pi - Cumulus mx img

For a Davis system it really doesn't matter which version of MONO you use. I am running 5.0.1.1 Probably easier to start from scratch by installing the latest Debian/Raspbian etc by following Steve's guide elsewhere in this forum. If nothing else it gets you more familiar with the OS. I was a comple...

Re: Cumulus MX base OS and set-up advice

Just be aware that Raspberry Pi 'look alikes' aren't. They have kernel's that are not kept up to date with the releases of the operating systems. I fell for that when I bought my BananaPi Pro a few years ago. Great machine - but it has reached the end of life as far as the OS (Debian) is concerned. ...
