Re: Arduino and 1-wire based home built weather station.
Love it! I want one - or 10. Here's a photo I took of my test setup for the DHT22 humidity and temperature sensor. You can also see a 1-wire digital temperature chip in a little copper P clip plus LCD display and breadboard. If you fancy a more retro looking display, I was much taken by this I...

Re: Arduino and 1-wire based home built weather station.
I'm really interested to see the Arduino sketch that you use for this Gina. I still wouldn't mind playing with the Arduino and the things like the Hobby Boards UV and solar sensors. I could just never fine the information to read them properly. My 'Winblown' station is working just fine - but gettin...

Re: 1-wire/Arduino/Cumulus ?
Nice to see you taking up this challenge Gina, I shall follow it with interest. I did a lot of very basic Arduino programming a couple of years back to get some amateur radio antenna control systems working. I wanted to do the 1-wire stuff with it too but I couldn't get me head around the use of the...

Re: Connecting the Hydreon RG11 digital rain sensor.
Thanks for confirming that Steve, I had plugged in 0.66 thinking it was logical and the rain that came last night equated very nicely to the manual gauge
So I now have that running via a 1-wire counter through my wonderful new 'Windblown' 1-wire interface to Cumulus

Re: Connecting the Hydreon RG11 digital rain sensor.
If I'm just replacing my FO tipping bucket gauge with the Hydreon in tipping bucket mode set to 0.2mm is the Rainfall multiplier in Cumulus 0.66 or 1.5? or neither

Re: Raspberry Pi mini computer £21
Its a fairly steep learning curve in places (for non Linux people such as myself) but the Pi forums have had the answer for just about every question I had. Do yourselves one favor though, go for at least a 4gb card, which may mean repartitioning one of the supplied images. I found I ran out of appl...

Re: Problems with station communication
Console to PC comms still going strong
I've had 2 isolated 'sensor contact lost' errors but I don't have any issue with those.

Re: Detecting when data isn't received from sensor
Scott, Take a look at this thread https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=7150 I've so far had great success using the ferritte beads on the usb lead. I'm well past the point where I normally lose contact with the base station unit. Still with fingers crossed of course ;) Cheers Colin

Re: Problems with station communication
Edit: Easyweather also locks up so I don't think it's anything to do with Cumulus 8-) Once one of them is locked up the other won't work either :( Still going great with the usb cable wrapped through the ferrite rings - not a single error from either a lost signal to the external sensors or a conso...

Re: Problems with station communication
Very positive results here so far with the usb lead and ferrite combination, we've had shocking weather here over the past few days, the sort of stuff that would normally lead to poor reception or signals from the outside sensors - but so far it's rock solid. Could be coincidence of course .......

Re: Problems with station communication
Hi All One of our Sunrecorder users had problems with USB dropouts and signal corruption and the answer appears to be to wind the USB cable three or four times around a ferrite ring (through the hole and round again). Most USB cables now have ferrites but not extensions (maybe there is a clue there...

Back on the original usb lead and it seems more stable than the spare lead I tried.

Re: Better screen for the FO temperature sensor box
+1 on Roys design, I built mine a while back and it works great. I did break a few melamine plates getting the holes cut though Glad I bought spares
