Re: WH1080 Transmitter or New Station ?
Hi, As far as I recall, the Maplin's versions were always 433 MHz without a DCF receiver and Clas Ohlson 868 MHz with a DCF receiver. Then there were other versions ("badge engineered") such as Signatrol and Watson and later versions with Solar Data in many permutations. The "protocol...

Hi,
Yes, that's the normal (intended) behaviour. You probably need to look at this FAQ.
Cheers, Alan.

Re: replacement reference temp/hygrometer WH1080?
Hi, Some versions of those station Consoles automatically turn on the 4 "backlight" LEDs and/or have an internal mechanical relay (which clicks) when an external supply is applied (via the USB interface connector). In these cases an internal heating of about 2 degrees C is quite typical. I...

Re: replacement reference temp/hygrometer WH1080?
Hi, Sorry, I'm not aware that anybody has definitively identified a specific T/H device type for the "808x family" of stations, or even if they are consistent or compatible across the numerous versions which carried that generic model number for more than 10 years. They may have been desig...

Hi, Not a specific answer, but are you aware of the Weatherduino Project? Unfortunately it's not genuine "Open Source" (some sections of the forum are closed to "customers"), but he has been using AQI sensors since before it was a "mainstream" consideration. You may fin...

Re: Photos of the insides of Fine Offset sensors.
Hi, IIRC the binary '1' is coded as a 0.5ms pulse of carrier followed by a 0.5ms gap, and the '0' as a 0.5ms pulse followed by a 1.5ms gap (but it might be the other way around). I think High bits are transmitted first but can't be sure. From an old program listing I have the declarations: ; Fine Of...

Re: Photos of the insides of Fine Offset sensors.
Hi, Did you see my post on Sunday, or is your Pod different to mine (in which case I can't help)? Indeed, the internal battery connectors (2 x AAA) are not populated, but a reasonably simple modification is to install them and add a low-cost "4-pin" 433MHz Transmitter module (connecting da...

Hi, Only 6 wires in the RJ12 connector, of which 5 are used. Their functions are labelled on the PCB under the PV panel, see the photo half-way down Page 4 of this thread. Their sequence/function is (or was) : NC - No Connection RESET - Undefined, but somehow prevents the Data Packet from the Pod &q...

Re: It's the Autumnal Equilux today
Hi, Sunset and Sunrise are normally defined when the (top) Edge of the sun crosses the horizon, which is about half a degree from its centre. Also there is refraction in the atmosphere so that "Sunset" and "Sunrise" actually occur with the centre of the sun about 0.8 degree below...

Re: Advice sought
Hi, Welcome to the forum. The (now numerous types of) Ecowitt stations are by far the most versatile, but you may still need to do a little customisation/tinkering for your "unusual" requirements. So just a few "notes" from me: Virtually all remote "sensors" are battery...

Re: Base unit failure
Hi, Hmm, currently, Amazon appears to be linking to two different "GW1102" packages: Both have separate(d) Wind and Rain sensors, but the Amazon is Solar Powered (only) at about £135 and the other is from WeatherSpares (Marketplace seller) with Solar/UV sensors at about £230. BTW, the indi...

Re: Base unit failure
Hi, Do I really need a console if that is the most expensive item? No, the "Gateway" does the same data-handling function and costs only around £30. IMHO the TFT display is very "nice", but there's no point in paying around another £100 if you don't want it. Note that via Amazon,...

Re: Base unit failure
Hi, .. things seemed to have changed a lot since I last investigated weather stations though! Indeed yes. Very few stations now include Logging (when not connected to a PC) but can use the Internet instead. "Watson" branded stations were manufactured by the Chinese "Fine Offset" ...

Re: Geiger counter
Hi, I did hobby around in electronics some 'long time ago', As the "kit" appears to use fully "Through Hole" components and PCB (i.e. not SMD/Surface Mount), the construction should be quite "easy", but beware a few "gotchas". A low-cost multimeter (Maybe avai...

Re: N96FY Alarm Sounding.
Hi, IMHO it appears to be an "Age" issue with (some of) these particular Consoles, perhaps an "EEPROM Wear Out" issue or a Bug in the software after a particular time event? I've experienced it with several of my FO Consoles. It appears that many of the "variables" are ...
