Re: W-8681-SOLAR no outdoor temp/humidity/wind readings

Hi, ... I manually reconnected the console to the transmitter, .... These stations use two totally separate transmissions for Temp/Hum/Wind/Rain and for Solar data, with different "source addresses" and timing periods (48 and 60 seconds). They use the same radio hardware (so that seems to be working...

Re: New weather station

Hi, I don't know about the "Devanti" (nor internet protocols in general), but the Console in the Australian review link does look very similar to the "Pro Signal" station on the CPC/Farnell website , which includes a free .PDF download of the "Operating Instructions". Maybe a dangerous assumption, b...

Re: New weather station

Hi, The ebay link appears to be broken, but the review is to an Ecowitt/Fine Offset which connects via WiFi (not USB) and is said to be compatible with MX. A similar version is available in UK from CPC for just over £100. However, I've seen numerous comments that the clarity (viewing angle) of the C...

Re: WS3085 base station locking up

Hi,

Do you have the "Synchronise Fine Offset Reads" option set? It's a well known issue (and possibly the only solution), so try looking though a forum search if you haven't already. Over 100 hits I'm afraid.

Cheers, Alan.

Re: Wind vane replacement

Hi, , the wind vane broke irreparably. How "irreparably" ? Is the vertical shaft still accessible and/or functional? If so, it should be possible to fabricate (and attach with Epoxy glue) a new vane from sheet material, perhaps Acrylic, Aluminium or even recycled packaging material. The problem if t...

Re: Rebranded WH1080 Sync problems

Hi, The transmitter LED lights up for several seconds when I reapply power then goes into the normal 22 second (approx) blink. The base station, upon powering up gives the normal Icon for searching for a signal for approx 10 seconds .... The WH1080 transmitter is a simple "Send and Hope" system, onc...

Re: RJ11 connectors

Hi, Also on ebay, where you can find a suitable crimping tool at a ridiculously low price, for example this (chosen at random) or even with a cable tester for not much more. FWIW the 6-pole version (same size, more contacts) is called RJ12. Or ready-made cables (which you might cut into two) are use...

Re: WH3081 console replacement

Hi, Yes, certainly check for simple "mechanical" problems first. The two "sticky" threads at the top of this (Fine Offset) section may give a few hints on dismantling the Console. AFAIK, the vast majority of "Similar Looking" Consoles are made by the same manufacturer (FO); some people use the term ...

Re: Maplin Forum discussions on 433.92MHz interference

Hi, Welcome to the forum. If your WH1080 is around 10 years old and 868 MHz, then it may well use the "old" integrated FSK chipset which is totally incompatible with the later OOK protocol (and IMHO not "hackable"). IIRC, Clas Ohlson were still selling this format in around 2013-14. Of course the 10...

Re: Rain calibration

Hi, My rain amount is reading to high...... using the rain multiplier would this be a negative value ? No, if it is reading too high by 10% then you need to use a "fractional" multiplier, i.e. 0.9 , not negative (unless the rain is falling upwards). Or to be pedantic, it's 100 / 110 which is nearer ...

Can somebody ... recommend a weather station that is compatible less than $500 AUD.
Possibly an Ecowitt but I can't recommend how best to purchase one in Australia. The Weatherduino DIY project also seems quite popular over there, if you're that way inclined.

Cheers, Alan.

Re: Instromet sunshine recorder

Hi, I have been using Cumulus for a number of years to log data from Instromet sensors, including their sunshine sensor. I now have a desktop computer running Windows 10 and have downloaded Cumulus 1.9.4 . Which Version / Build number were you using and which have you now downloaded / installed? Cum...

Re: Replacement batteries?

Hi, It might depend if it's just a "charging" Solar Pod (WH-208x ? ) with I believe no "electronics" or a "Solar Data" Pod (WH-308x) which has a voltage regulator. IIRC the "charging" voltage from the WH-308x Solar Pod is around 3.0 volts (a 3.3 volt low quiescent current regulator feeding through a...

Re: Photos of the insides of Fine Offset sensors.

Hi, Yes, Maplin was rather a loss for the area of "spares" availability; the Anemometers that they sold at £2.50 (and I bought a few when they were closing down for £1.50) now seem to cost around £20 if imported from China! And we always knew that they used 434 MHz with no "complications" of a Radio...

Re: Photos of the insides of Fine Offset sensors.

Hi, ... still having issues accessing the code, which hopefully they will sort out. Not sure I would opt for a built unit, it's more expensive than a replacement Wattson base station.. IMHO the WeatherDuino is not really "comparable" with a Fine Offset (Maplin, Watson, etc..) system, but only with a...
