Re: Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi

Hmm. Made another new SD card:

1. Flashed using Etcher with Raspbian Stretch

2. Initial updating etc on Pi 3B+

3. Move to Pi0W and install Mono - took around 30 mins.

4. All seems to be running OK.

Re: Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi

Since they are based on different CPUs I very much doubt the SD cards are interchangeable. On the one hand I wouldn't be at all surprised if 0 and 3 had eg mono configurations that weren't 100% compatible. OTOH some of the information upthread seems to suggest that it should be OK to interchange Pi...

Re: Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi

Have an SD card that allows CMX to run OK on a Pi3B+. But the same SD card throws mono errors when trying to start CMX on a Pi0W. I had it in my head that cards should be interchangeable between 3 and 0, but maybe that's not automatically true? Is there anything that I might have done wrong when pre...

Re: Sunshine hours

I would ignore the Weatherlink figures completely - the algorithm is much too simplistic in just assuming that a suitable threshold for calculating BS hours from direct irradiance can also be used for total irradiance. The WL figures are probably better than nothing, but not by much!

Re: WiFiLogger for Davis stations

Sorry Steve, I know you don't want to spend too much time here, but I still don't feel like I understand the complete picture. Could I have one more go: In the normal course of events, does the connection between logger and MX stay up? Or is every request for a new LOOP packet always bracketed by op...

Re: WiFiLogger for Davis stations

[Not sure this is the right forum to continue this thread, but since it's started here...] Thanks Steve, that's helpful. I clearly don't understand enough about the detail of how the IP connection is made. I had imagined that this connection was, in a sense, always on, ie if a data packet arrived on...

Re: WiFiLogger for Davis stations

This is the issue I described above, the connection was closed and MX does not handle it. You are unlikely to get MX to play nicely in a situation where the connection can get closed while it is using it, regardless of settings. Steve, I may be wrong but this sounds like it is an error that could (...

Re: Meteobridge_NANO

Indeed, with the Wifilogger and this new device coming out, things are looking up on the weather station software again. Just wonder what price Meteobridge intend on selling this for? Boris does have a target price in mind, but I'd better leave any announcement to him. But yes the latest Nano versi...

Re: Meteobridge_NANO

YShame Davis doesn't keep up with the technology like these innovators. I don't disagree, but just by way of comment: Davis's recent priorities have been (1) EM (which is an important and strongly-selling product but not, I know, very visible to the hobbyist market) and (2) weatherlink.com and I su...

Re: WiFiLogger for Davis stations

v1.17 is now available. I'm also maintaining a WiFi logger section on our Davis knoweldgebase, so this shoould be a backup to other sources of firmware and WFL information online. You can find the relevant section at:

Re: WiFiLogger for Davis stations

Will this WiFiLogger allow simultaneous uploading to weatherlink.com and connecting to CumulusMX and/or WeeWX? I'll be glad to test one out here in the US :) . Also, what will the pricing be? phil If you're in the US then you need to look at Ryan's online shop: https://www.scaledinstruments.com/sho...

Re: WiFiLogger for Davis stations

Works great and uploads to WL.com, WU, PWS Weather, AWEKAS, CWOP and now also WOW, as well as logger data. There are settings to use with Cumulus or Weatherlink. That's all correct (of course :) ), but I'm just being slightly cautious about uploads to wl.com. For anyone who is already uploading via...

Re: WiFiLogger for Davis stations

We will be distributing this WiFi logger for Europe (and further afield if requested, but Ryan will be handling the Americas via Scaled Instruments). We are expected a first limited batch of stock by the start of next week (w/b 18th June) but pre-orders are welcome. We have some preliminary informat...

Re: Python script emulating vantage protocol

Remember that in addition to populating the LOOP/LOOP2 packets, any emulator software also presumably needs to emulate the API by which data packets are normally requested from the WL logger. This isn't necessarily difficult but would be essential if any analysis software is going to think that your...

Re: Davis VP2 Relay Device

Very interesting Mark - congratulations and HNY. But can you say in which ways you see this as different from Meteostick (and hence eg Meteobridge Pro Red)? Is it just the undoubted satisfaction of rolling your own circuitry, or do you see significant differences in functionality?
