Re: What causes the +999 and -500 Temp errors?

Sorry went AWOL there due to other weather related issues (ie no central heating for 4wks now!), but will update to the latest version ASAP and try it out, thanks.

Re: What causes the +999 and -500 Temp errors?

Well obviously that would be best, but my Im not going to buy another weather station to fix such an intermittent problem. That's not what I said. Lol, no but its the only option if the unit is a little iffy. It would be masking the problem. Better to fix the problem. I have no problem masking the ...

Re: What causes the +999 and -500 Temp errors?

Well thats likely the issue then, every now and then (once every 2.5wks maybe) the Weather Station stops responding from say 22:00 to 04:00 the next day. That wouldn't cause this problem, because a real reading would then be taken at 0400 (assuming you spot the problem and restart Cumulus) and the ...

Re: What causes the +999 and -500 Temp errors?

So, on whatever day it was that those values occurred (I can't tell exactly which day due to the 3D graphs), you had some kind of problem which resulted in those values erroneously being written as the end of day values into dayfile.txt. The error could have been caused by your station stopping sen...

What causes the +999 and -500 Temp errors?

I asked here before and was told that Cumulas automatically filters these out.. but it doesnt!

Re: Humidty reading very low - wires swapped?

I agree with Belejuice. It is pointless putting in random correction factors. What is the point of collecting data that is more or less just made up? You make the assumption Im collecting all data. All Im interested in is the Wind Speed, the rest is just for my curiosity. The CF, while just a guest...

Re: Humidty reading very low - wires swapped?

I put in a regulated 1.2amp, Voltage selectable unit last night (and set to 3v). Humidity reading did seem to jump, to the 70-80% range from under 50%. I thought that might be a little low still, so I put a 10% calibration on it in Cumulus, though looking at the trend graph Im now hitting 100% thro...

Re: Humidty reading very low - wires swapped?

If it's an unregulated 4.5 volt supply with hardly any load on it, it could well go to 6 volts. Have you measured the output or just read the label? Measured the output with no load at all. I put in a regulated 1.2amp, Voltage selectable unit last night (and set to 3v). Humidity reading did seem to...

Re: Humidty reading very low - wires swapped?

I think my unit is broken (or not liking the 4.5v its getting vs the 3.2v the batteries gave out), the humidity figures went upto 90% today but then smoothly dropped to 15% again. That doesnt sound right! Why are you running it off 4.5v? Cos I was just using what was onhand... :D Ill go sort out so...

Re: Humidty reading very low - wires swapped?

True, I should check other home users stats. Im in Ireland, near the midlands. I looked at Air Ports and stuff (http://www.met.ie/latest/reports.asp) and their Humidity figures were 60-70% when mine was 17%. EDIT: I think my unit is broken (or not liking the 4.5v its getting vs the 3.2v the batterie...

Does Cumulus average / verify readings to stop spikes

Was reading how a Developer on FreeBSD made software to read the FineOffset and noticed it occasionally spikes to extremes (seems to be a common problem). He set his software to only update the data log if the info from the FO was verified at least twice in a row. Does Cumulus do this (I think not a...

Re: Humidty reading very low - wires swapped?

Ah right thanks. In that case I gather I can force a flat +20% on the readings in Cumulus to get it closer to reality...?

Humidty reading very low - wires swapped?

While I appreciate this isnt a support forum for Fine Offset, I just thought Id see if anyone can save me dismantling my 8meter weather poll again! I took it down to wire up a DC Adapter instead of the batteries in the transmitter. That was all fine, stronger signal and no more 5mth lifespan on batt...
