Mark, thank you for the follow up - I am trying to learn a bit more every days... :mrgreen: ...but then of course you miss out on all those nice Davis forecast messages. I suspect Cumulus does not UTF-8 encode the files when it processes the realtimeGaugesT.txt which causes the problems with the forecast strings It just uses "traditional" Pascal I/O functions to write the file, it doesn't take any special action for UTF-8, and in any case I don't know how...
