Re: Please donate.

Hi Steve

I've been using Cumulus on and off for a bit now and just upgraded to the latest version. With this, I've made my donation as this is the only software I use, other than the Davis WeatherLink, with my VP2 station.

Thanks for a useful piece of software.

Regards

Re: Splitting apart the raingauge on a Davis VP2

Just to add my own comments to John Dann previous message... Unless one's weather station is located in THE perfect location (where ever that might be on this planet), at the right height level above the groung (would that be exactly at seal level or at the level where one's station is located), in...

Re: Splitting apart the raingauge on a Davis VP2

I have been using a Davis VP2 AWS for over a year now, processing the data with both WL & Cumulus. **I have deliberately not posted a direct link to this report as I'm not sure of current Copyright issues with it. However suitable Googling will find it. Posting a link doesn't raise any copyrigh...

Splitting apart the raingauge on a Davis VP2

I have been using a Davis VP2 AWS for over a year now, processing the data with both WL & Cumulus. Late last summer, I purchased the daytime fan assistance unit (DFARS) which I didn't bother fitting at the time but will be doing so soon before the warmer weather appears. This requires dismantlin...

Re: Interesting new Data Receiver Interface from Davis

I'd certainly be more interested in getting an anemometer transmitter if it meant I could also plug my solar sensor into it; that would solve my 'siting' problems. But it starts to get a bit expensive if I have to buy an Envoy8x as well. Then there's the question of software compatibility, presumab...

Interesting new Data Receiver Interface from Davis

The Envoy8x, of relevance to Vue/VP2 users. It can receive up to 8 different ISS outputs so allows the use of multiple stations but what is of much more use to those like myself and many others using an Envoy/datalogger setup rather than a console for download of PC data is the ability to use multip...

Re: tonights 18z run

I've only just seen this thread, it's slightly out of date now but whatever, one of the most useful central sites for forecast output data from the various worldwide forecasting centres is the Wetter Zentrale site: Here Just select one of the forecast centres on the top left, e.g GFS, JMA, ECMWF etc...

Re: Arctic airsteam and snow due to hit UK on Thursday

The NH chart shows the airstream coming right 'over' the North Pole from the Northern Pacific regions.

It could be an interesting spell but may not last that long, at least in its coldest phase.

Re: Radiation Shield accuracy

Hi Ray I haven't ordered the FARS unit yet but plan to do so very soon. I have been doing a bit of research looking through postings on the various groups I mentioned and it is quite likely that a FARS will add that bit more accuracy to my still, hot day max temp readings. As we've discussed before,...

Re: Radiation Shield accuracy

This is what I wrote back on 23rd May after a particularly hot day, what one may say was the first real test of my station/location on a truely hot day. 30.6C briefly here for me, well above any official reading. Looking at other maxima for the day in this part of the Country, some have been even hi...

Re: Rain error

Hi! ....................Do you know if is it possible to modify the records in Weather Underground, PWS and APRS? Many thanks. Stefano It is possible to edit your own lines in the tabulated data in Wunderground but I don't know about the others. First, you need to select "Enable Entry Deletion...

Re: Vantage Vue - raining cats and dogs message

Reviving an ancient thread: On my VP2, both the free standing display Console and the Weatherlink software summary page via the consoleless Weather Envoy/datalogger to my data logging computer were flashing the ticker message " It's raining cats and dogs " for a while this evening during a...

Re: Radiation Shield accuracy

Hi Ray, Mark (& others) At this point, there is a "Cold Front" of some note between the Manchester area and Worcestershire, probably little, if any, 'weather' on it, just an air temp/humidity change. Your stations are both registering around 20C, mine is up around 27C again with virtua...

Re: Radiation Shield accuracy

Mark's beaten me to it Ray, I was going to say something similar. :D What is important is what is recorded in your location and asssuming one has taken all reasonable action to eliminate potential errors, then it's probably accurate for that location which is what you perceive when in the garden, no...

Re: Radiation Shield accuracy

Hello everyone, Well it's finally happened and I'm a happy bunny! :D Alan - owner of my reference station and general excellent bloke - came round today and we swapped the wooden post for an aluminium one or rather, two posts. The wider lower section goes a couple of feet into the ground and the sm...
