Twitter temporarily re-enables their streaming API
For some odd reason, Twitter temporarily re-enabled their streaming API late last night. Since I still had the Twitter feature enabled on my legacy Cumulus installation the Tweet went through! It was nice to see albeit short-lived... UPDATE (July 29, 2021): It would seem that Twitter has permanently...

Actually, utilizing a CDN is free via Cloudflare!
Troy Hunt outlines this nicely in a four-part YouTube series here.
I used this to secure my weather website. Hope this helps.

Re: Restoring data to a new system
Thanks Steve.steve wrote:I would simply copy the entire Cumulus directory to the new PC. Doesn’t matter whether you use 7 or 10.
Everything worked just fine using this method:
Robocopy \\cumulus\c$\cumulus c:\cumulus /e /log:c:\temp\cumulus.txt

Restoring data to a new system
My trusty dedicated Windows 7 Cumulus PC has failed. Fortunately, the hard drive is ok. I have the hard drive installed in a temporary PC right now. I will have a new PC on order. What are the best steps to get the data transferred from the old hard drive (on the temporary PC) to the new hard drive ...

FTP taking a long time to upload
Is anyone experiencing long FTP upload times? I have Cumulus set to upload every 5 minutes. It takes, on average, 2 minutes and 20 seconds to upload my images. I have a 5 Mbps upload on my U-Verse line and I am using passive FTP. Even if I am uploading 4 MB, which is on the high side, it should only...

Re: Storm Gertrude
Steve: I've noticed that your station has not reported wind for a while. Is your anemometer broken?

Re: Storm Gertrude
US-built houses would never make it out there! LOL. I wonder if housing structures are under a special code to withstand the types of winds that you experience? Any damage to your homestead and/or surrounding area? I recall last time you had a major storm, you mentioned a greenhouse nearby suffered ...

Re: Likelihood of it getting a bit breezy
Just for comparison mine were 64 mph max gust, 41 mph max average. I don't mind the wind so much but the amount of rain we've had lately is getting to be a problem. I had to fix a small problem with a shed roof and there's standing water everywhere - the ground is absolutely sodden. We could really...

Re: Likelihood of it getting a bit breezy
Highest Wind Gust of 85mph here in North East Caithness. Pleased my new Vantage Vue survived the storm. Do you have a web page that we can view your data? It did however go mad with the rainfall figures showing a rain rate of 1645.8mm per hour at the height of the wind. I am guessing that the tippi...
