Latest Cumulus MX V4 release 4.0.1 (build 4023) - 16 May 2024

(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)

Latest Cumulus MX V3 release 3.28.6 (build 3283) - 21 March 2024

Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

Re: Another rain reading problem

Thank you for that Steve, Perhaps what you describe is in the Pro? All I have is a magnet which falls onto a plastic rim, underneath is what looks like a screw head, the top of which is then enclosed in a plastic cap. There are no electrical connections, which makes me wonder if there might be a fau...

Another rain reading problem

I wonder if you guys would forgive the intrusion of an off-topic issue. It's not Cumulus - just Davis and my Vantage Vue. The Weather shop is closed until next week (I am in the UK) and I am really wanting to get my rain recording back ASAP. A few days ago I noticed rainfall was not being noted in t...

Re: List out of bounds

it was the changing dates that threw me The date and time at the start of the line is the timestamp of the error message, i.e when the message was logged. Could you clarify 'initialise'. The release notes for version 1.9.3 gave instructions for the initialising the monthly records. See https://cumu...

Re: List out of bounds

Stop Cumulus and open Aug13log.txt in a good text editor (e.g. notepad++). Go to the line numbers mentioned and correct the errors, which will be obvious as the lines won't look like the other lines, they will be blank or have garbage characters. except for monthly records which show blank for all ...

List out of bounds

Due to a re-wiring of the house there have been several down periods for the computer, though the Davie Vantage Vue console has continued under battery power. However when I now activate Cumulus there is always an error report which has the date and time of my running Cumulus. So this morning for ex...

Best way to preserve data for a few days outage

Hello folks, We need to have the house rewired. :( It will mean we have no power to the main computer system for possibly a couple of days. I wonder what would be the best procedure to follow to ensure the minimum disruption to the Vantage Vue weather station we have? The console has a battery, and ...

Re: Vantage Vue with a sense of humour!

Many years ago there was a big explosion at the Datsun car plant. Pieces of cars were thrown into the air over a wide area. It's rumoured people were heard shouting "It's raining Datsun cogs" but personally I don't believe it! ;) The old ones are definitely the best ones!! ;-)) We've been...

Re: Vantage Vue with a sense of humour!

There's a list of the messages here: https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4140 I don't know whether the Vue has others in addition to those. Thanks Steve - I'll look out for some of these others - looks like it doesn't regard cold as an area for humour, but wind and rain yes! Cheers

Vantage Vue with a sense of humour!

Only had the station for a couple of weeks but laughed out loud to see the console flash the message:
ITS RAINING CATS N DOGS.
Nice to see it has a sense of humour - can't wait for -10C and snow!
Cheers

Re: An editing conundrum

Cumulus calculates the annual rainfall from the daily totals in dayfile.txt, plus any 'year-to-date' value that you've configured in the station settings (after restarting). Thank you for your patience Steve - all seems fine now. Archive records have been retained, rainfall for the year OK, and I'm...

Re: An editing conundrum

Almost there!! I think I have recovered most of the files and edited correctly - the one issue I still can't crack is: Having cleared references to the 500mm rainfall entry a couple of days ago - I am struggling to find a way to update the rainfall for this year to include that figure. The Cumulus m...

Re: An editing conundrum

Cumulus uses the annual rainfall figure from the Davis to work out how much rain has fallen today (and hence all the other totals), so when the annual figure increased suddenly, that affected today's total in Cumulus. You can use Edit->Today's rain in Cumulus to correct that, and then restart Cumul...

An editing conundrum

Having just worked my way through a conversion from FineOffset to Davis Adavantage Vue - with much help from Steve - I am now at the records editing stage. The biggest issue is that when I set up the console and weatherlink s/w at some point it invited me as far as I can remember to input a rainfall...
