stop webcam from misting up

I thought I'd share this as it has worked better than I expected. My weather cam is just a USB connected webcam in an external CCTV Security Camera Housing Enclosure on the roof, like this one housing.JPG and as I live in a fairly cold part of the hills here in South Oz most mornings it is misted ov...

Re: Fire Weather, a new approach

Wow, I just checked in to see how you northerners were going. It sounds like our extraordinary fire season last season has moved up there! Stay safe!!

Re: Cumulusutils

Hi Hans

Surrey Downs is in the process of bulldozing his house and building a new one, so he'll be off the air for a while. :)

@hills ...

Sorry ! As you mentioned Linux I assumed that you had edited the 'base' code

Had I realised, the beteljuice wouldn't have put his beak in.
Haha! all good. It is a pretty trashy/fragile script, hence why I "resemble" and not "resent" that remark ;)

I get it guys, no hard feelings ;)
But, @phil,
I haven't touched Han's code, I just modify the page it creates after the event.
That's also my code
Anyway, I can.live with it.
Good point! :)

Thanks mate!

Re: Cumulusutils

... better than your code being trashed modified Hans ;) :groan: ... and no doubt Henry Ford thought the same when someone put bumpers on one of his cars  OI!! I resemble that remark! Oh and for the record... I haven't touched Han's code, I just modify the page it creates after the event.

Re: Cumulusutils

Hi Hans Absolutely no problems at all and thanks for spending the time explaining that. :) I guess my reasoning was I'd like to draw the viewers attention to today's prediction rather than yesterdays result as that is what they should be acting upon, in much the same way my main site highlights a pr...

Re: Cumulusutils

Hi Hans, would it be a difficult change to make the pointer point to todays prediction if forecasting is activated? I have implemented this on my FWI with a fairly messy awk and sed script to replace the current value with the predicted value and recalculate the position percentage, but obviously th...

Re: Cumulusutils

Good question Keith. My reason is because my firedanger warning area - Mt Lofty Ranges, covers a lot of different types of terrain and to a degree different climates. I live in a particularly damp area as the hills behind us cause more precipitation here than most other locations in the Mt Lofty Ran...

A colleague of mine uses cumulus and lives at Surrey Downs, I'll ask him to implement cumulus utils so we have another close station for comparison.
He is still in the process of tidying it up, but initial install is here: http://wood-ward.com:8080/weather/pwsFWI.html

Re: Cumulusutils

Wow!! for 5/1/2020, your software prediction was 348.83. then after my dayfile was created at 9:00am the actual was 341.15. I'm very happy with that accuracy for a prediction!! A colleague of mine uses cumulus and lives at Surrey Downs, I'll ask him to implement cumulus utils so we have anoth...

Re: Cumulusutils

Thanks Hans, my maps are working again as well after disabling and re-enabling them. Strange this is my maps worked initially, then broke when everyone else's did. I hope it wasn't something I did wrong, as the corruption was in my line.

Re: Cumulusutils

NOTE: Interesting difference with Crafers, distance only 17 km. We're 17km apart horizontally but over 400m apart vertically, ;) I use youweather's prediction for Crafers which is usually about 3 or 4 degrees cooler than Adelaide's. that will account for some of the difference, but that said, they ...
