Re: Better weather proofing
Probably not an issue given the expected life span of the whole unit but petroleum based products are not good for many plastics and rubbers, far better using silicon grease.Super-T wrote:I've just used vaseline / petroleum jelly for waterproofing

Re: Better weather proofing
Where is the best place to get the grease? Can it be obtained from Maplins? Looks like Maplin only have the spray type  CPC do it http://cpc.farnell.com/servisol/200002000-50gm/silicone-grease-50g-tube-servisol/dp/SASILGRSETUBE or on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SILICON-GREASE-50gr-TUBE_W0QQite...

Re: Better weather proofing
How about dielectric/di-electric grease - seals, lubricates, protects and insulates electrical contacts, spark plugs, battery terminals and fasteners from moisture... Silicon Grease is in the family of dielectric greases ;) Clean the contacts, you can do this by removing/inserting the plug a...

Re: Ambient Weather WS-1080
I would think it's similar to Cat 5 i.e. 100 Meters. In general, the higher the frequency of the signal being sent down the cable, the shorter the cable has to be. The environment of the cable is also important. If the cable is in an electrically noisy environment, it needs to be shorter. I can't i...

Re: Weather Forecast for Gatwick
I noticed that the forecast is wildly different to the model data, seems better to use the model and do the forecast yourself.
Looks to me as though http://www.metcheck.com use similar or the same model as wunderground but come up with generally more realistic forecasts.

Re: Receive email notification by text message?
If you have o2 broadband you can get emails forwarded to your phone as MMS for free. Works well, limit is max 1000 texts per month, it is fairly easy to choose which senders emails get forwarded to your phone. My home automation system has a mobile phone connected by USB so the PC can send texts dir...
