Latest Cumulus MX V4 release 4.0.1 (build 4023) - 16 May 2024

(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended - particularly for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)

Latest Cumulus MX V3 release 3.28.6 (build 3283) - 21 March 2024

Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

Re: How To:- Filter for rain gauge

I like what you've done and will do the same since we are surrounded by spiders and their webs. To save embarrassment, can you tell me how the rain gauge cover comes off? I just don't want to lever it off then discover there was a catch that snaps somewhere. Thanks! Latches are underneath just inbo...

Re: Rain sensor with snow.

I expect you all know this already but just in case, 1mm of water = approx. 1 cm snow. According to a science programme I was watching, volume of snow is 8% water. ;) No way did we have 6cm of snow, more like 2cm. Precipitation is all I need to know, it covers my needs hence I have renamed rain to ...

Re: Rain sensor with snow.

Thought I would report how things went as we had a bit of snow yesterday... heater was a great success :) I recorded 5.7mm of precipitation yesterday, with another 0.3mm overnight. I keep an eye on another private weather station near me, his station showed 0mm yesterday and 6mm today coinciding wit...

Re: My Setup

Thanks. Looks like the idea that the sat dish will shade the sensor from the sun was wrong. As soon as the sun came up today the temp rose rapidly and stayed at about 8 - 10 c for several hours, so a little re-think there. A You will probably be getting radiating heat from the fabric of the buildin...

Re: WH1080 for £79.99

For remote control of any PC http://www.uvnc.com/ is brilliant and has been around a long time.

Also if your laptop is XP pro you can enable remote desktop service, which is built-in. But normally I prefer to use ultra-vnc

Re: Updated: Wind direction indicator - tail mods plus some Q's

Yes thats what I meant by adding tape to the head of the unit...to offset the tail weight. Any suggestions as to an alternative to several winds of duct tape? Sorry I wasn't clear, you probably need to add double the weight to the nose, eg 1g on tail = 2g on nose, as the tail is so far away from th...

Re: Advice please - planning to use old laptop to run Cumulus

No should be fine, you may find in bios a setting to boot the laptop on power restoration (usually on a desktop but you may be lucky). This way when the power comes on the PC boots.

Don't forget the lever effect, so you will need to add more weight to the nose than you do to the tail.

Re: Tell us about your background images

I use Google Chrome took me ages to get the css to work from my local server, no matter what I did it wouldn't work (but did in Opera) moved style sheet to my ISP server (changed references to point to it there) and it worked. When the style sheet was on my local server Chrome would come up with no ...

Not sure why it isn't working now as it appears to here, and I have looked from web and I thought it worked ? Not workin...

How To:- Filter for rain gauge

I wanted a filter for my rain gauge that was robust, looked neat, and was fine enough without being too fine. Well think I found it, fairly sturdy, can be bent to shape in the hand, plus can be cut with scissors and cheap to buy. I used Aluminium Mesh from Halfords (car spares) less than £2 for a sh...

Re: Rain sensor with snow.

As a matter of interest, found this on the Austrailian BOM site. They do like to simplify things ;) Snow Intensity Light:Gives a water equivalent of up to 2 mm per hour. Moderate:Gives a water equivalent of 2.2 mm to 6 mm per hour. Heavy:Gives a water equivalent of more than 6 mm per hour. Maybe th...
