Re: Does anybody know this station?

Just a quick update: My station has been running for over month now. The only problem I have encountered is that over the past few weeks the temperature readings have been over-reading by an ever increasing amount when compared to local weather stations. For example, as I write this my station is sh...

Re: Does anybody know this station?

Also the WU setup screen in that manual implies that you can edit some of the config... Capture.PNG If you can change the server name it would be pretty easy to set-up a PHP script to capture the data locally... Also wonder what 'customizing' the upload type means? No mention of being able to do an...

Re: Does anybody know this station?

I purchased this station from an eBay shop in Germany (and since then Maplin started to sell it http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-professional-solar-powered-wi-fi-weather-station-n23dq ). It has been up and running as IWORTHING10 on Weather Underground since 5th December and seems to be working fine ...

Re: Does anybody know this station?

I also noticed this particular weather station on the ambient weather website. It does look good even though it only seems to come with a Wi-Fi/Wunderground interface. The main things that put me off buying it was the mounting possibly isn't very strong.

Re: STEVENSON SCREENS - CHEAP OPTION

That looks very good Bill! I'd definitely agree with putting a fan in it. Today has been a typical day when an aspirated screen would certainly improve accuracy (very little wind and high temperatures). Mine is the small lantern type screen without a fan so today I've had to resort to using an aspir...

Re: Oregon Scientific Temperature accuracy

Yes I was thinking the same thing. I need a 3rd sensor of a different kind (maybe a mercury thermometer) or a sensor produced by a different manufacturer.

Thanks,

Callum

Oregon Scientific Temperature accuracy

Hi I have decided to run a little test of the accuracy of the temperature sensor/hygrometer. I currently have a WMR88 temperature sensor ( Sensor 1 ) housed in a small wooden radiation screen and I have now added to the radiation screen a small cheap LCD temperature sensor/hygrometer from eBay which...

Re: Talking weather

Hi Insromet produce software which can transmit spoken weather via the telephone. I have not used it myself, however Pitsford School Weather station uses this software and you can listen to it by dialling 07807 551391. It is similar in a way to an ATIS (Automatic Terminal Information Service) which ...

Re: STEVENSON SCREENS - CHEAP OPTION

Do you have a WMR88? Same rain gauge as me, so definitely an Oregon? Yes that's right it's Oregon scientific which has the advantage of being wireless! Meant to say Callum, I moved my rain gauge off the floor as I found it became a play thing for the local wildlife! My own cats would drink out of i...

Re: STEVENSON SCREENS - CHEAP OPTION

Thanks guys, I'm quite pleased with my handy work. I'm definitely not normally a DIY person but I've found it quite rewarding! Well done Cullom; but are they left in that position near to the fence? Ideally they need to be out in the open but I know it's not always possible. Yes unfortunately my cot...

Re: STEVENSON SCREENS - CHEAP OPTION

Finally finished mine today. I painted the screen with white marine paint so hopefully it will last a while. The stand is from a £30 bird table which unscrewed with wing nuts so I used the bolts that we're holding the bird table on to attach the stevensons screen. I used the bird table platform as a...

Ah that's a good idea! Unfortunately I recently threw a Christmas decoration box away that would have been ideal.

Re: STEVENSON SCREENS - CHEAP OPTION

Hi My lantern arrived today and my white boat paint is on its way. Can anyone think of suggestions of what to use for the 'roof' of the lantern? I don't have any saws or a workshop so ideally it needs to be something that's already roughly the right size (doesn't matter if it overhangs slightly). Th...

Re: Calibration Issues? wmr88

Even that tree there will reduce the wind speed slightly due to friction, as will the surrounding buildings. The only way you'd be able to tell that the instrument is under reading would be to compare the data from two different anemometers in the same location but I think we just have to trust the ...

Re: Calibration Issues? wmr88

Hello I can't see from your photo whether there other houses or tall trees nearby which could be affecting the exposure of the anemometer. I have paraphrased the following guidance from the Met Office Observer's Handbook: At standard synoptic stations the anemometer will be 10 metres above level gro...
